Scotty Cameron Introduces New MONOBLOK Putters

Carlsbad, Calif. (September 22, 2022)–With a passion for creating putters that perform at golf’s highest levels, Scotty Cameron introduces the new MONOBLOK 6 and MONOBLOK 6.5 putters. Made in a limited run and inspired by the continued success of tour professionals playing previous generation GOLO models on the worldwide tours, these rounded mallets are reminiscent of GOLO designs, yet offer a new, sought-after head size in two, purpose-specific neck and shaft configurations. Inspired by an iconic automotive wheel crafted from a single block of metal, Scotty named these MONOBLOK to celebrate his tradition of milling putters from solid 303 stainless steel.

Available in golf shops beginning October 7, the MONOBLOK 6 and MONOBLOK 6.5 feature an industrial machined metal bevel design, a misted anti-glare stainless steel finish accented in translucent cherry red and asphalt gray paint, a Pistolero Plus grip, a custom shaft band and a
model-specific headcover. The “6” nomenclature signifies the line’s dimensions at a new size that fits between the GOLO 5 and 7 head shapes.

Designed, precision milled and assembled in the United States, each new Limited Release MONOBLOK putter incorporates Scotty’s customizable stainless steel sole weights, as well as an aluminum sole plate designed to optimize weight distribution, shifting weight to the perimeter of the putter head for balance, stability and forgiveness.

Master Craftsman Scotty Cameron on the new MONOBLOKS

“Tour players who game compact mallets have been partial to our GOLO shapes since we first introduced them in 2012. That’s going back a decade through this year, when J.T. Poston gamed a GOLO 5 in his victory at the 2022 John Deere Classic. We had several requests for a model that’s in between the 5 and 7 sizes, so we created the MONOBLOK 6 and 6.5. They are designed in a new size with a familiar shape that has the swooping curves and that pleasing ‘melt-into-the-ground’ look from address. Before these go out to Tour, I wanted to make a special run. We all like options, so one comes with a single midbend shaft configuration, and the other with our jet neck for guys looking for a little more toe flow.
In keeping the color palette clean and monotone, as well as the extensive milling process from solid stainless steel, the name MONOBLOK just fit.”

A closer look at the new MONOBLOKS

With its rounded compact mallet shape based on earlier GOLO putters, the MONOBLOK 6 is sized in between the GOLO 5 and 7 models with a mid-bend shaft for a nearly face balanced setup. Precision milled from a single block of 303 stainless steel, the MONOBLOK 6 has an integrated sole plate machined from 6061 aircraft aluminum. Seamlessly fused to the body, this configuration allowed Scotty to design more solid stainless steel into the face and perimeter, increasing MOI, balance and feel. The limited release MONOBLOK 6 has a solid face, misted stainless steel finish, adjustable performance balanced stainless steel sole weighting and includes a Pistolero Plus grip and a MONOBLOK headcover.

With the same dimensions as the MONOBLOK 6, Scotty’s new MONOBLOK 6.5 was designed with a jet neck for players who favor a putting stroke with a bit of toe flow. The key to maintaining the same size, shape and overall head weight with a different neck is the integrated sole plate. Precision milled from 6061 aircraft aluminum and lightly misted with clear anodization, this engineered component allows the solid stainless steel to be distributed properly for increased MOI, balance and feel. The limited release MONOBLOK 6.5 has a solid face, misted stainless steel finish, adjustable performance balanced stainless steel sole weighting and includes a Pistolero Plus grip and a MONOBLOK headcover. A small number of left-handed MONOBLOK 6.5 putters will also be offered.

Weighting,availability and more

The MONOBLOK 6 and MONOBLOK 6.5 putters extend Scotty Cameron’s proven construction methodology of incorporating complementary materials to achieve desired performance characteristics. Each model employs a precision milled 6061 aircraft grade aluminum sole plate expertly designed into the 303 stainless steel putter head, which allows for higher MOI, optimal weight distribution, superior balance and excellent feel.

The MONOBLOK putters each feature performance balanced weighting with two customizable heel-toe stainless steel sole weights matched to the putter’s length to ensure consistent feel and weight at every length.

Each MONOBLOK putter is accessorized with a Pistolero Plus grip with gray Scotty Cameron lettering and a slightly built-up lower hand profile. This new grip complements an embroidered, custom designed MONOBLOK headcover. A stepless steel shaft includes the line’s
MONOBLOK shaft band.

Scotty Cameron Limited Release MONOBLOK putters will be available at Titleist golf shops worldwide on October 7, 2022. Retail: $650.

The outfits of the Champion Golfer of the Year by Original Penguin

Original Penguin by Munsingwear, within the golf division of Perry Ellis International, Inc., congratulates brand ambassador Cameron Smith for winning the 150th Open at the Old Course at St. Andrews, the home of golf, for his first major and third worldwide victory of the year.

Smith cut a stylish figure all week in Original Penguin‘s Golf collection, with the UK’s Sunday Times newspaper likening his striking Bunker Print Golf Polo to a piece of modern art.

Ultimately, it was Smith’s competitive spirit, precise iron play and peerless putting that landed the Australian his maiden major championship.

“We congratulate Cameron for winning the 150th Open in a stirring come-from-behind record setting fashion,” said Oscar Feldenkreis, President and CEO of Perry Ellis International. “A bogey-free 64 final round enabled Cameron to tie for the lowest total score under par in major championship history and showed the world his mental fortitude and gift for performing the best on the sport’s biggest stages. We are proud to have Cameron, with 10 career worldwide victories and a major, as an Original Penguin brand ambassador.”

“This place is so cool, to have the 150th Open here and to come away with the win at St. Andrews is pretty special,” stated Smith. “To look at the names on the trophy and then to add mine is unreal. All of the hard work I have done over the years has started to pay off and this one definitely makes it worth it.”
With the win, Smith jumps up to #2 in the FedExCup standings and Official World Golf Rankings. “I had a lot of support out here and that kept me plugging away. To win an Open championship is a golfer’s highlight and to do it here is another level. The game’s best players have won here so it’s pretty cool to have my name on the Claret Jug.”

For over 60 years Original Penguin, and its namesake icon Pete, the Penguin, has been adorned and adored by the masters of leisure and sport to define itself as an American classic.

Number-one range technology provider, Toptracer, launches new insights-driven game mode

Toptracer has a new game mode

The exciting new game mode puts players in 30 realistic virtual on-course scenarios, and measures how successfully the player navigates them – providing a mountain of data in just 30 shots. Each shot provides data which accumulates to a total score designed to offer an accurate and objective snapshot assessment of the player’s current performance level.

The new game mode has been designed as a bridge between the range and the golf course, simulating on-course pressure for players as they are tasked with a series of different situations. Toptracer30 consists of nine tee shots and 21 approach shots, with each shot evaluated depending on a number of variables – ranging from distance and accuracy when driving, to hole proximity and greens hit when approaching.

During gameplay, players are additionally provided with a series of ‘Insights’. As each is observed, evaluated, and analysed, players are given real-time feedback into the strengths and weaknesses of their performance during that play-through of Toptracer30.
Finally, upon completion of the Toptracer30 game, each shot is assessed and attributed to a ‘Performance Handicap’ – an estimated handicap that reflects the player’s performance across the entire 30 shots.
Ben Sharpe, Toptracer President, commented on the new development: “Toptracer30 is yet another impressive innovation in our range technology. This new game mode provides players with brilliant insights into their performance, and it offers the player with an opportunity to health check their game in just 30 shots.
“We can’t wait to see how players, and indeed coaches, use this new game mode to further their game and make all-important improvements,” he added.

About Toptracer

Original Penguin Golf launches debut Women’s collection

Original Penguin Golf, as worn on the PGA Tour by Australian Cameron Smith, today announces the important launch of its first ever collection for women, with a clean, mid-century modern (MiMo) aesthetic to debut the new Spring-Summer 2022 line.

Using a lot of the contouring details taken from Original Penguin’s iconic Earl Polo, the company have curated a striking range of feminine, sophisticated and versatile clothing with a delicate retro edge, designed for those seeking a modern and fashionable look.

Innovative, sustainable and stylish

Equally appealing on the golf course and a general active lifestyle, Original Penguin Golf’s now iconic prints and patterns remain true to the company’s heritage by staying quirky, fun and, at the same time, chic and stylish.

While the Women’s Collection upholds the heritage and tradition synonymous with the Original Penguin’s men’s line, Spring-Summer 2022 sets a new standard for innovation and sustainability required by today’s modern female.

Fabrics are made of recycled materials like an amazing luxe, high-gauge performance blend with flexible-stretch, and ultra-soft pima cotton blends.

The collection also includes a host of crossover pieces like leggings, lightweight sun-protection pieces, track jackets, jogger silhouettes, and biker shorts.

Clothing creates “comfort and confidence”

Commenting on the launch, European Brand Director, Helen Willsmer, commented: “This new launch marks a huge moment in the growth of Original Penguin Golf and recognises the increasing importance the brand puts on female sport and leisure. In creating Spring 2022, after a record year of the company in 2021, we have thought not only of the outer, aesthetic details of the collection, but also the inside details that create comfort and confidence when wearing a great fitting garment.”

Garments include built-in shelf bras with removable inserts, performance shorts with performance inside liners, bloomers with multi-function pockets, built-in tummy control in all bottoms, and soft, elastic gripper tape on all shorts for skirts and dresses.

Golf bag buying guide: price, size and weight – this is important

The constant companion of a golfer is of course the golf bag. It contains all the important things you need on the golf course – from golf clubs to sunscreen and food. There is therefore no question that the choice of a suitable golf bag is a basic requirement for a successful round of golf.

The golf bag – a product in an almost infinite number of designs

As the centerpiece of the game of golf, the golf bag is now available in numerous designs and at a wide variety of prices. The golf bag, which many hundreds of years ago was merely a strap with which you tied your clubs together, has now become a multifunctional companion for every golfer. In the huge selection of golf bags that the market now has to offer, you should be clear about the following requirements:

  • Size (from pencil bag to tour bag)
  • Handling (stand bag, carry bag, cart bag)
  • Weight
  • Storage space
  • Waterproof
  • Stability
  • Subdivision of the top
  • Rain cover
  • Design

Before buying a golf bag, it is important to be clear about what kind of bag you want: Should it be a lightweight carry bag, since I don’t have a trolley? Should there be room in my bag for as many clubs as possible, since I prefer to go out with 14 clubs? How much storage space do I need for the rest of my equipment? How many pockets do I need on the bag and how do I like the arrangement? Will the bag stand up to rain and extreme weather? How many compartments should the top of the bag have: Are five compartments enough or should each club get its own space?

In addition to the personal preferences and requirements that a player has for a golf bag, the price of a golf bag also determines the purchase. The price range of the countless models that are now available on the market extends from 50 euros to about 900 euros. We have compiled various models in different price categories for a first impression of the possibilities.

To carry: Pencil bag

Pencil bags are the lightest bags among golf bags: with a diameter of about 15 centimeters, they can carry about seven clubs. Especially in winter, when the use of trolleys is prohibited on many golf courses, the pencil bag is a light and comfortable golf bag to carry. Pencil bags are often found in the lowest price category.

The larger cart bag

A cart bag is considerably larger than a pencil bag. This golf bag can hold up to 14 clubs. In addition, such a bag is often equipped with many pockets, in which all accessories find space. The bag is not suitable for carrying on the golf course – a trolley serves as a supplement.

Stand bag with many possibilities

A stand bag in a somewhat higher price range is characterized, for example, by a padded shoulder strap and by numerous extras: a 14-pocket divided top, a lined compartment for valuables, an insulated cooler compartment, a Velcro patch for gloves as well as loops for tees and much more. Also, a rain hood may be included.

Jordan Spieth signs equipment deal until 2029

Jordan Spieth has been an integral part of the Under Armour team since 2013. The then 19-year-old golfer, mind you without a PGA Tour card, signed with the textile manufacturer and has remained with it to this day. Now Under Armour is extending its profitable deal with Spieth for another four years. The American will wear the brand’s golf shoes, clothing and accessories until 2029.

Jordan Spieth: “Under Armour took a chance on me”

“I was just leaving school and I guess in other sports I would have been considered a high draft pick, but at the same time I didn’t have PGA Tour status, which in golf means everything,” Spieht explained. The then 19-year-old had recently turned pro and has been playing at Under Armour ever since. He currently has a ten-year deal, which has now been extended by another four. The decisive factor for this is probably his victory at the RBC Heritage in mid-April.

“I’ve really enjoyed being on this journey with Under Armour since I turned pro, and I can’t wait to accomplish great things together in this next phase of my career,” Spieth said. “Like me, everyone at Under Armour challenges themselves to get better every day. I’m looking forward to continuing to test their newest innovations as I know their products will help me train and perform my best for years to come.”

Golfing for a good cause

In addition to the partnership extension, Under Armour will also support the Jordan Spieth Family Foundation with one million dollars (just under 920 thousand euros) over the next eight years. The non-profit organization under Spieth’s patronage aims to make it easier for young people to get into golf. It awards scholarships and creates open golf programs for young people. The focus is particularly on breaking down socio-economic barriers and thus making it easier to get into the sport. Spieth commented, “I think access is a big thing in golf. It’s a game that I love. So, I figure maybe there’s some people that don’t know that they love it yet. It’s a game that gets you outside. It’s active. It gets you moving around. And I think that’s obviously very healthy, no matter what background, or who you are.”

Under Armour looks forward to continued collaboration

Sean Eggert, vice president of sales at Under Armour, said, “We are incredibly honored to continue our relationship with Spieth in the years to come. He is an athlete who truly embodies what it means to strive for more. Jordan’s future is bright, as evidenced by his spectacular performance at Hilton Head this weekend, and we look forward to joining him on this journey as he continues to grow with us, challenge us and make us even better at what we do. We couldn’t be more proud to have him on our team.”
