The Bay Golf Club will start in the TGL from January 2025. The American West Coast team bears the name of the “Bay Area” around San Francisco. The main investor is Avenue Sports Fund, and NBA superstar Stephen Curry is also on board.
Marc Lasry, CEO of Avenue Capital Group, emphasized the importance of the region and the innovative focus of the team: “Avenue Sports Fund invested in The Bay Golf Club because we are excited to bring a new team and innovative game to the growing number of Golf fans regionally and nationally,” said Lasry.
The team is characterized in particular by the internationality of its squad: With team members from Sweden, the USA, Ireland and Australia, it unites three continents.
Ludvig Åberg experienced a meteoric rise as a professional. The talented Swede turned professional in 2023 and quickly established himself on the PGA Tour. In the same year, he celebrated his first title win at the RSM Classic and successfully represented Team Europe at the Ryder Cup.
The team also has a major winner in Wyndham Clark: the American triumphed at the US Open in 2023 and added two more PGA Tour titles to his record. In 2024, he represented the USA at the Olympic Games and the Presidents Cup.
The third member of the team, Min Woo Lee, has already celebrated international success and achieved several top 10 finishes on the PGA Tour. The Australian is also very active on social media and is appreciated for his humorous nature.
Shane Lowry is known for his great passion for team competitions, which he also demonstrated as part of the victorious 2023 Ryder Cup team. His victory at the Open in 2019 represents his greatest individual success. The professional from Ireland, who has been active on the international golf scene since 2009, brings a wealth of experience with him.

Shane Lowry temporarily lost his lead at the The Open Championship 2024 due to rule disputes. The former Open champion faced unexpected challenges and rule decisions on the second day of the tournament.
Shane Lowry started strong at the The Open Championship 2024. The 2019 champion led after the second round at the Royal Troon Golf Club, having navigated the first ten holes with three birdies and one bogey, securing a two-stroke lead.
The 11th hole, one of the course’s most notorious par-4 holes known as “The Railway,” proved troublesome for Lowry. His second shot veered left into a gorse bush. Distracted by a photographer, Lowry claimed his shot was disrupted. Declaring his ball lost, he took a penalty and played a new ball onto the green. However, a spectator found the original ball, forcing Lowry to continue play with it.
According to the golf rules, Lowry had to play the found ball. Despite his protests and frustration towards the photographer, the decision stood. Lowry incurred another penalty for an unplayable ball and played his fourth shot onto the green. He finished the hole with a double bogey, losing his sole lead and tying with England’s Daniel Brown. Despite the setback on the 11th hole, Lowry fought back to regain the solo lead by the end of the day.

The Moving Day of the PGA Championship 2024 is over and Shane Lowry just missed a record score that hasn’t been broken for over 100 years by a few centimeters. The 62 he played has been played only four times in the history of the major event. With two mediocre rounds on the first two days, Lowry’s only goal was to get himself back into the tournament, which he certainly did. Helping him reach the newest record round after Schauffele’s 62 on the first day, was his selection of clubs.

Shane Lowry’s score became more and more incredible from hole to hole, turning the golfer into the early star of the 2024 PGA Championship on Moving Day. In the end, the Irishman gave a flawless performance that almost made major history. After playing over 130,000 major rounds, Lowry was given the chance to finish with the lowest round ever achieved in a major. He missed the score of 61 strokes by just a few centimeters.
Shane Lowry secured his ticket for the weekend with two solid rounds of 69 in the first two rounds of the second major of the year. Shane Lowry was on top form early on Moving Day. With a birdie on hole 2, he kicked off a round of golf that almost went down in the history books at the end of the day. His first birdie was followed by three more in succession. Two more birdies on holes 7 and 9 led the 37-year-old to record a 29 on the front nine. Up to this point, Lowry had made no mistakes and would remain so until the end of his round.

He added three more stroke gains on the back nine (on holes 13, 14 and 17), giving him the chance to bring his score to ten strokes under par, a 61, on the 18th. Although he missed the fairway with his first two shots, he managed a masterful approach from a challenging position. However, he failed to sink the putt from just over three meters into the hole, resulting in a 62.
The golfer summed up his round: “I enjoyed it. I enjoyed every minute of it, obviously. Probably the most disappointed anyone can ever be shooting 62. I knew what was at stake. Just didn’t hit the ball hard enough. Had it on a good read and just broke away from the hole. Look, I went out there with a job to do today, and my job was to try to get myself back in the tournament, and I definitely did that.” Continue: “I knew I just really wanted to hole it. Probably too much. Yeah, it was just — I kind of stood back and allowed myself to enjoy the moment. It was a pretty cool moment to have. It would have been a pretty cool moment to kind of seal the deal and do it. But at the end of the day, I knew even if I didn’t do it that I done what I needed to do today, and I’m pretty happy with that.”
A 62 has been played four times so far in golf’s 100-year major history. Although he missed the record score, Shane Lowry’s third round at the 2024 PGA Championship deserves the utmost respect.
