WITB: Nacho Elvira Wins with New Callaway Quantum Driver

WITB: With a new Callaway driver, proven iron setup, and distinctive putter, Nacho Elvira secured his third DP World Tour title at the Dubai Invitational. A look inside the winning bag.

Against a strong field, Nacho Elvira kept his composure at the Dubai Invitational, celebrating his third DP World Tour victory with a first-time club in his bag.

Breakthrough with the New Callaway Quantum Driver

The 38-year-old Spaniard marked his first win of the year and debut with the new Callaway Quantum driver. He relied on the brand-new Callaway Quantum Triple Diamond Max Driver with 7.5 degrees loft and a Graphite Design Tour AD TX shaft. The Quantum driver proved its worth immediately in its first public use.

Consistency on the Fairway

Elvira trusts the Callaway Parady Ai Smoke Max fairway wood on the fairway, set at 14 degrees and equipped with a Fujikura Ventus TR Red shaft. This setup has remained unchanged for two years. Transitioning from wood to irons, his bag includes the Callaway Apex UW 25, also fitted with a Graphite Design Tour AD TX shaft.

Utility and Compact Iron Setup

A staple in Elvira’s bag is the Callaway X Forged UT CF18 utility iron with 24 degrees loft. Though from 2018, it has proven reliable. He plays it with a Mitsubishi Chemical Tensei AV Raw White 90 HY TX shaft, the same combination used in previous tournament wins.

Due to this head-heavy setup, his traditional iron set starts at a 5-iron. He plays a Callaway Apex TCB 5-iron combined with Callaway Apex MB irons from 6 to 9, all with KBS $-Taper X shafts, a constant in his setup over the years.

For wedges, Elvira opts for precision and variety with a four-wedge setup: Titleist Vokey Wedgeworks 44°, Vokey SM10 in 50° and 54°, plus a Vokey Wedgeworks Proto 58°. The three lower lofts also have KBS $-Taper X shafts, while he trusts a True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100 shaft for the 58-degree wedge.

WITB: Success with the Putter

Perhaps the most distinctive club in Elvira’s bag is the Odyssey Ai-One Jailbird Mini 1/2 Ball Prototype putter. It features a striking alignment aid with a black line, white half-circle on the crown, and a two-tone face. Having recently switched from another Odyssey model, his trust in this putter paid off: Elvira led putting statistics on decisive days, making it a key to his success.
