Facing a strong field, Nacho Elvira kept his composure to claim his third DP World Tour victory with a first-time club in his bag.
Breakthrough with the New Callaway Quantum Driver
Elvira earned his first win of the year and debuted the new Callaway Quantum driver. The 38-year-old Spaniard used the brand-new Callaway Quantum Triple Diamond Max Driver with 7.5 degrees loft and a Graphite Design Tour AD TX shaft. The driver proved its worth in its first public appearance.
Consistency on the Fairway
For fairway woods, Elvira relies on the Callaway Parady Ai Smoke Max 3-wood set to 14 degrees with a Fujikura Ventus TR Red shaft, a setup unchanged for two years. His transition from wood to irons is aided by the Callaway Apex UW 25 with a Graphite Design Tour AD TX shaft.
Utility and a Compact Iron Setup
A staple in Elvira’s bag is the 2018 Callaway X Forged UT CF18 utility iron with 24 degrees loft, paired with a Mitsubishi Chemical Tensei AV Raw White 90 HY TX shaft, a combination used in previous wins. His traditional iron set starts at 5-iron with Callaway Apex TCB and Callaway Apex MB irons from 6 to 9, all equipped with KBS $-Taper X shafts.
Elvira’s precision extends to his four-wedge setup featuring Titleist Vokey Wedgeworks 44°, Vokey SM10 in 50° and 54°, and a Vokey Wedgeworks Proto 58°. The lower loft wedges use KBS $-Taper X shafts, while the 58-degree wedge uses a True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100.
WITB: Success with the Putter
Perhaps the most striking club in Elvira’s bag is the Odyssey Ai-One Jailbird Mini 1/2 Ball Prototype putter, featuring a prominent alignment aid with a black line, white semicircle on the crown, and a two-tone face. Recently switching from another Odyssey model, Elvira led putting stats on key days, making the putter a key to his success.
