WITB: Jayden Schaper wins Alfred Dunhill with full TaylorMade bag

Jayden Schaper claims his first career win at the Alfred Dunhill Championship, relying entirely on TaylorMade equipment.

In a dramatic playoff against fellow South African Shaun Norris, Jayden Schaper secured a home victory at the Alfred Dunhill Championship held at Royal Johannesburg. Despite South Africa’s typically warm climate during the European winter, heavy rainfall and flooding forced the DP World Tour event to be shortened from four to three days. Schaper emerged victorious after finishing 16-under-par and clinching the win in a sudden-death playoff.

Jayden Schaper’s full TaylorMade setup

The 24-year-old from Benoni used a complete set of TaylorMade clubs to earn his breakthrough win. His driver of choice was the new QiD4 LS with 9° loft, which only recently appeared on the USGA conforming list in early November. This same model was spotted in the bags of stars Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood ahead of the DP World Tour playoffs in the UAE.

The QiD4 LS is engineered to reduce spin with a simplified dual-weight system, optimized for higher swing speeds. For his higher-lofted woods, Schaper opted for familiar models from the Qi35 line. His 19° hybrid and 15° fairway wood offer a blend of explosive distance, forgiveness, and adjustability, ideal for players seeking low CG and high MOI performance.

WITB: Mixed irons and precision wedges

Schaper’s iron setup combines two TaylorMade series. He uses P7MC irons from 4 to 6, and P7MB irons from 7 through pitching wedge. The P7MCs, known as mid-cavity irons, feature slightly wider soles and thicker toplines, while the P7MBs are muscle backs designed for elite players seeking maximum control and minimal forgiveness.

His wedge lineup consists of TaylorMade MG5 models in 50°, 56°, and 60° lofts. Introduced in August 2025 as successors to the MG4s, the MG5 wedges offer a forged construction for soft feel and precise feedback. TaylorMade’s Spin Spread Technology and laser-etched grooves aim to deliver maximum spin and control—even in wet conditions like those at this year’s rain-soaked championship.

Clutch putting with the Spider Tour Z

Schaper sealed his playoff win with an eagle putt from the fringe using a TaylorMade Spider Tour Z putter. This mallet-style putter is designed for easy alignment and features strategic weighting to promote face stability and a blade-like feel. He also uses a TaylorMade TP5x golf ball, completing his all-TaylorMade arsenal.
