Under Armour’s flagship golf shoe launches Feb 6, offering perfect fit, power, consistency, and premium comfort and style.
Under Armour is turning a new page in golf performance footwear with the introduction of its Drive Pro Clone. Designed to help golfers move more naturally and play with confidence under varying conditions, the shoe addresses a longstanding challenge: traditional designs often struggle to conform to the natural shape and movement of a golfer’s foot, limiting comfort and ultimately affecting performance.
Rigid constructions can restrict a shoe’s adaptability during the swing, impacting overall fit and consistency on the course. The Drive Pro Clone offers an adaptive solution that responds to the golfer’s movements, ensuring a personalized fit.
“Traditional golf shoes create gaps, pressure points, and loss of power due to their single, rigid form,” says Jake Haley, Senior Manager for Golf Footwear and Apparel at Under Armour. “With the Drive Pro Clone, we aimed to eliminate these compromises entirely. Every golfer deserves a shoe that adapts to them, not the other way around. This design provides athletes with a truly customized fit that remains consistent from the first swing to the last.”
Under Armour revolutionizes golf shoes with adaptive technology
Central to this shoe’s innovation is Under Armour’s proprietary auxetic Clone upper material, which behaves less like a static fabric and more like a dynamic surface. By expanding, contracting, and conforming to the unique geometry of the foot, Clone creates an adaptive fit that remains consistent throughout the round, regardless of fatigue, terrain, or conditions.
“Clone adapts to the shape and movement of your foot, ensuring consistent support from the first to the last swing,” explains Kyle Blakely, SVP of Innovation and Design Studio at Under Armour. “Because the material behaves more like a dynamic surface than traditional textile or leather, athletes benefit from a more even fit, improved energy transfer, and a more stable platform throughout the round.”
Proven success on international tours
Combined with Under Armour’s Swing Support System, the Drive Pro Clone delivers more repeatable power and boosts golfers’ confidence with every swing. This golf shoe innovation underscores Under Armour’s commitment to meeting golfers’ needs through material science, precise design, and on-course performance testing.
The new shoe has already been used in numerous international tournaments and contributed to two wins on the DP World Tour: Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen secured his first victory at the Australian Open in December, and Patrick Reed trusted the fit and performance of the Clone in his recent win at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic.
The Drive Pro Clone is available in both spiked and spikeless models, launching on February 6. Recommended retail prices are £160/€200 for the spiked version and £140/€180 spikeless. The shoe comes in four colorways: Black/Anthracite/Metallic Gold; Distant Grey/Midnight Navy/Metallic Silver; White/White/Metallic Gun Metal; Stone/Gridiron Brown/Metallic Gun Metal.
