Under Armour’s flagship golf shoe launching February 6 offers perfect fit, power, repeatability, comfort, and style.
Under Armour Revolutionizes Golf Shoes with Adaptive Fit Technology
Under Armour unveils its Drive Pro Clone, a groundbreaking golf performance shoe designed to help golfers move more naturally and play with greater confidence across varying conditions. This shoe tackles a longstanding challenge: conventional golf shoes often fail to conform to the foot’s natural shape and movement, limiting comfort and ultimately impacting performance.
Rigid constructions restrict the shoe’s adaptability during the swing, affecting fit and consistency on the course. The Drive Pro Clone presents an adaptive design that moves with the golfer, ensuring a customized fit throughout the round.
“Traditional golf shoes create gaps, pressure points, and power loss due to a single fixed shape,” explains Jake Haley, Senior Manager of Golf Footwear and Apparel at Under Armour. “With the Drive Pro Clone, we aimed to eliminate these compromises. Every golfer deserves a shoe that adapts to them, not the other way around. This design provides athletes a truly personalized fit that remains consistent from the first to the last swing.”
Consistent Support from Tee to Green
The innovation centers on Under Armour’s proprietary auxetic Clone upper material, which behaves more like a dynamic surface than static fabric. Expanding, contracting, and adjusting to the foot’s unique geometry, Clone delivers an adaptive fit that stays stable throughout a round, regardless of fatigue, terrain, or conditions.
“Clone conforms to your foot’s shape and movement to ensure consistent support from the first swing to the last,” states Kyle Blakely, SVP of Innovation and Design Studio at Under Armour. “As the material functions more like a dynamic surface than traditional textiles or leather, athletes benefit from a more uniform fit, improved energy transfer, and a stable platform throughout the round.”
Proven Success on Tour
Paired with Under Armour’s Swing Support System, the Drive Pro Clone boosts repeatable power and enhances golfer confidence swing after swing. This golf shoe innovation underscores Under Armour’s commitment to meeting golfers’ needs through material science, precise design, and on-course tested performance.
The shoe has already been used in numerous international tournaments, contributing to two DP World Tour victories: Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen’s first win at the Australian Open in December and Patrick Reed’s recent triumph at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, both relying on the Clone’s fit and performance.
The Drive Pro Clone will be available February 6 in both spiked and spikeless versions, priced at £160/€200 (spiked) and £140/€180 (spikeless). It comes in four color options: Black/Anthracite/Metallic Gold; Distant Grey/Midnight Navy/Metallic Silver; White/White/Metallic Gun Metal; Stone/Gridiron Brown/Metallic Gun Metal.
