TGL: Historic Albatross Propels Los Angeles to Victory over Jupiter

With a strong team performance and a historic moment by Justin Rose, Los Angeles triumphs over New York in the Tomorrow Golf League.

On Tuesday at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, the Tomorrow Golf League (TGL) saw the New York-based Jupiter Links Golf Club, featuring Max Homa, Kevin Kisner, and Akshay Bhatia, face off against the Los Angeles Golf Club, with Justin Rose, Collin Morikawa, and Sahith Theegala. The match was highlighted by the first ever albatross in TGL history. It was only during the second phase, the Singles, that Los Angeles secured a definitive victory.

Triples Phase: Early Hammer Puts Los Angeles Ahead

In the Triples phase’s second hole, Los Angeles threw the first hammer, earning two points early. Jupiter Links responded with their first hammer on the fifth hole, securing a crucial point. Los Angeles extended their lead on the sixth hole with another point. By the ninth hole, Los Angeles closed the Triples phase at 4:1 after Jupiter Links incurred a penalty stroke.

During the Singles, momentum continued for Los Angeles. Justin Rose opened the tenth hole (Par 5) with a driver and a solid 300-meter tee shot onto the fairway. Max Homa from New York played a steady but shorter tee shot and placed his second shot just short of the green, setting up a promising opportunity for his team.

Historic Moment: Justin Rose Records First Albatross in TGL

Justin Rose made history on the tenth hole by scoring an albatross with a 210-meter 4-iron shot, thrilling fans at the SoFi Center. Even Tiger Woods smiled, noting he’d never achieved an albatross in his career. This remarkable shot extended Los Angeles’ lead to 5:1.

On holes 12 and 13, Jupiter Links clawed back three points. Kevin Kisner made par on the 12th hole after Collin Morikawa incurred a penalty. Max Homa, with a hammer shot accepted by Los Angeles, secured two more points with a birdie, tightening the score to 5:4 late in the match.

Closing Stages: Los Angeles Seals the Win

With a hammer still in hand, Los Angeles played it on the penultimate hole, forcing Jupiter Links to accept to stay in the match. Collin Morikawa secured par, clinching the hole and effectively sealing the victory. New York could not recover on the final hole, and the match ended 8:4 in favor of Los Angeles.
