The match was highlighted by the first ever albatross in TGL history. It was only in the second phase of the game, the singles, that the Los Angeles Golf Club decisively secured the win.
Triples Phase: Early Hammer Puts Los Angeles Ahead
In the second hole of the first phase, the triples, Los Angeles Golf Club threw the first hammer, earning two points quickly. The Jupiter Links Golf Club then responded with their first hammer on the fifth hole, securing an important point. Los Angeles extended their lead on the sixth hole and finished the triples phase with a score of 4:1 after Jupiter Links incurred a penalty on the final hole.
In the singles phase, Los Angeles continued gaining ground. Justin Rose started the tenth hole (a par 5) with a solid 300-meter drive. Max Homa from New York also played a solid shot but landed shorter. Homa’s second shot fell just short of the green, setting New York up to recover points.
Historic Moment: Justin Rose Scores TGL’s First Albatross
On the tenth hole, Justin Rose made TGL history by scoring an albatross with a 4-iron from 210 meters, thrilling fans at the SoFi Center. Even Tiger Woods smiled, mentioning he never made an albatross in his career. This boosted Los Angeles’ lead to 5:1.

Jupiter Links staged a comeback on holes 12 and 13, gaining three points. Kevin Kisner made par on 12 while Collin Morikawa took a penalty. Max Homa’s birdie on 13, accepted as a hammer throw by the opposing team, added two more points for New York, tightening the margin at 4:5.
Final Holes Decide: Los Angeles Seals the Win
Los Angeles saved a hammer for the penultimate hole, forcing New York to accept it to stay in the game. Collin Morikawa sealed the hole with a par, effectively ending the contest. New York couldn’t recover on the last hole, and the match finished 8:4 in favor of the California team.
