TGL: Historic Albatross Leads Los Angeles to Victory over Jupiter

With a strong team effort and a historic moment by Justin Rose, Los Angeles defeats New York in the Tomorrow Golf League.

On Tuesday at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, the Tomorrow Golf League (TGL) saw the New York Jupiter Links Golf Club (featuring Max Homa, Kevin Kisner, and Akshay Bhatia) face off against the Los Angeles Golf Club (with Justin Rose, Collin Morikawa, and Sahith Theegala). The match was highlighted by the first-ever albatross in TGL history, achieved by Justin Rose. It was only in the second phase, the singles, that the Los Angeles Golf Club secured a clear win.

Triples Phase: Early Hammer Puts Los Angeles Ahead

During the second hole of the first phase, called Triples, Los Angeles made the first hammer, earning two points. On the fifth hole, Jupiter Links responded with their hammer to claim an important point. Los Angeles extended their lead with another point on the sixth hole. After nine holes, the Triples phase ended with Los Angeles leading 4:1, following a penalty stroke incurred by Jupiter Links on the final hole.

In the singles phase, the momentum swung strongly in favor of Los Angeles. Justin Rose opened the tenth hole (par 5) with a confident 300-meter drive. Max Homa from New York also played a solid, though shorter, fairway shot. Homa’s second shot landed just short of the green, positioning his team to potentially recover points.

Historic Moment: Justin Rose’s First Ever TGL Albatross

However, on the tenth hole, Justin Rose made history with a remarkable albatross, hitting a 4-iron from 210 meters. The crowd at the SoFi Center was electrified by the rare feat. Even Tiger Woods smiled, noting he had never scored an albatross in his career. This shot extended Los Angeles’ lead to 5:1.

Kevin Kisner made a par on the 12th hole following a penalty on Collin Morikawa, and Max Homa earned two points with a birdie hammer accepted by the opposition, tightening the match at 4:5.

Closing Holes: Los Angeles Secures the Win

Los Angeles used its remaining hammer on the penultimate hole, accepted by New York to avoid elimination. A par by Collin Morikawa secured the hole and nearly sealed the victory. New York failed to recover on the final hole, concluding the match 8:4 in favor of Los Angeles.

With this win, Los Angeles improves to 1-
