Scotty Cameron introduces a new putter line designed to reduce torque and improve roll consistency through shaft position.
The renowned putter design studio of Scotty Cameron, based in Carlsbad, California, has launched a new putter series in collaboration with Titleist. The new Scotty Cameron Onset Center (OC) putters include the Phantom 11R OC and the Studio Style Fastback OC, both designed to enhance consistency and reduce face rotation during the stroke. The term Onset Center refers to the shaft position, which is set behind the leading edge of the putter head (onset) and behind the center of gravity (center). According to Austie Rollinson, Senior Director of Putter R&D at Scotty Cameron, this setup is aimed at minimizing face angle rotation for a more stable putting stroke.
The primary goal in developing these new putters was to maintain the signature soft feel and feedback of Scotty Cameron models while introducing a slightly stiffer shaft paired with a 15-gram head weight. This combination is designed to preserve the feel of the head while enhancing overall stability.
In addition to shaft placement, the OC design incorporates a refined head shape, chain-link milling pattern, minimal one-degree shaft lean, and carefully selected shaft and grip components. These elements aim to support a traditional putting style while reducing face rotation and promoting consistent roll on the greens.
Both models are low-torque putters, offering the lowest torque design currently available in the Scotty Cameron lineup. Ideal for players seeking to minimize face rotation and achieve a more linear stroke, the OC putters also feature familiar head shapes and the classic Matador mid-size grip for a seamless transition from other setups.
Scotty Cameron Phantom 11R OC
The Phantom 11R OC, also available in a left-handed version, builds on the popular Phantom 11 platform. It features a stable, multi-material mallet design with a rounded profile and full-face chain-link milling. These updates aim to deliver maximum forgiveness and improved feel on the greens.
