Discover TaylorMade’s new Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons offering distance, forgiveness, and sleek design for improving your game.
TaylorMade introduces the Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons, a new generation of game-improvement clubs engineered to enhance distance, forgiveness, sound, and feel, addressing both performance and aesthetic needs.
TaylorMade Qi Max and Qi Max HL: The Next Generation of Game-Improvement Irons
A key design focus was the clubface. Traditionally asymmetric with a higher toe than heel, many game-improvement irons deform unevenly at impact, causing extra cut spin and shots to the right when struck near the toe. The Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons feature a clubface engineered to bend more uniformly, resulting in more stable ball flights and straighter trajectories combined with high ball speeds.
Sound, Feel, and Internal Enhancements
Beyond performance, feel played a crucial role. Both models incorporate a sound stabilizer bar connecting the back bar to the topline, which stabilizes the top edge and reduces unwanted impact noises. The ECHO damping system material has been repositioned higher in the face to lessen vibrations and produce a solid sound without sacrificing impact feedback. Individually optimized faces and new internal structures further boost ball speed and distance consistency.
Two Designs for Different Player Types
The Qi Max irons target players seeking distance and forgiveness within a relatively compact design. They feature thinner toplines, shorter blade lengths, and reduced offset as the head transitions smoothly into the hosel. FLTD CG technology places the center of gravity low in long irons for high launch and good stopping power, while it shifts higher in short irons to enhance distance control. The 4-to-8 irons incorporate Speed Pocket technology for stable ball speed on lower-face hits.
Conversely, the Qi Max HL irons focus on maximum forgiveness with larger clubhead profiles, taller faces, thicker soles, and toplines for increased stability and confidence. Their lofts are 3° weaker than the Qi Max, paired with ultra-light heads, shafts, and grips, making them ideal for players with slower swing speeds. This combination helps increase clubhead speed, launch height, and stopping ability.
New Design and Availability
Both irons feature a bright, monochrome design inspired by the P-Series. The Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons are available in steel at €183 per club and graphite shafts at €200 per club. Pre-orders begin January 8, 2026, with availability in retail stores starting January 29, 2026.
