TaylorMade Qi Max and Qi Max HL: Next-Gen Game-Improvement Irons

The new TaylorMade Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons offer a complete package focusing on distance, forgiveness, and design for game improvement.

TaylorMade introduces the next generation of game-improvement irons with the Qi Max and Qi Max HL, designed to enhance distance, forgiveness, and provide satisfying feel and sound while also addressing aesthetic preferences.

TaylorMade Qi Max and Qi Max HL: The Next Generation of Game-Improvement Irons

A key development focus was the clubface. Due to its asymmetrical design—with a higher toe than heel—many game-improvement irons tend to bend unevenly at impact, causing cut spin and shots that fade to the right when struck near the toe. The Qi Max and Qi Max HL feature a redesigned face that bends more uniformly, resulting in more stable ball launches and straighter trajectories with high ball speeds.

Sound, Feel, and Internal Enhancements

Beyond performance, feel was crucial. Both models integrate a sound-stabilizing bar connecting the back bar with the topline, which stabilizes the topline and reduces unwanted noise at impact. Additionally, the ECHO damping material was moved higher in the face, lowering vibration for a solid sound without sacrificing impact feedback. Custom-optimized faces and new internal structures further boost speed and consistent distance.

Two Models for Different Player Needs

The Qi Max irons target players seeking distance and forgiveness in a relatively compact design with thinner toplines, shorter blade lengths, and reduced offset from a seamless hosel transition. Featuring FLTD CG, the center of gravity is positioned deep in the long irons for high launch and strong stopping power, shifting higher in short irons to aid distance control. A Speed Pocket in irons 4 through 8 maintains ball speed on low strikes.

The Qi Max HL irons prioritize maximum forgiveness with larger head profiles, higher faces, and wider soles and toplines for added stability and confidence. Their lofts are 3° weaker than the Qi Max, combined with ultra-light heads, shafts, and grips, benefiting players with slower swing speeds by increasing clubhead speed, launch height, and stopping power.

Fresh Design and Availability

Both irons sport a bright, monochrome design inspired by the P-Series. Available in steel at 183 euros per iron and graphite at 200 euros per iron, pre-orders begin January 8, 2026, with retail availability from January 29, 2026.
