TaylorMade Qi Max and Qi Max HL: New Generation Game-Improvement Irons

The new TaylorMade Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons combine distance, forgiveness, and design in a complete package. Details on these game-improvement irons.

TaylorMade introduces the new Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons, representing a new generation of game-improvement clubs designed to enhance distance, forgiveness, sound, and feel, addressing both performance and aesthetic needs.

TaylorMade Qi Max and Qi Max HL: The Next Generation Game-Improvement Irons

A key development focus was the clubface. Traditionally, game-improvement irons have asymmetrical faces that flex unevenly upon impact, often causing additional cut-spin and shots to the right when struck near the toe. The Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons feature a clubface designed to flex more uniformly, resulting in more stable ball launches and straighter trajectories with high ball speed.

Sound, Feel, and Internal Enhancements

Sound and feel were also prioritized. Both models include a sound-stabilizing bar connecting the back bar to the topline, stabilizing the topline and reducing unwanted impact noises. The ECHO damping material has been moved higher in the face to minimize vibrations and produce a solid sound without losing feedback. Optimized faces and internal structures further boost ball speed and consistent distance.

Two Models Targeting Different Player Types

The Qi Max irons cater to players seeking distance and forgiveness in a relatively compact design, with thinner toplines, shorter blade lengths, and reduced offset where the head flows seamlessly into the hosel. FLTD CG technology positions the center of gravity low in long irons for high launch and good stopping power, shifting higher in short irons to enhance distance control. From 4 to 8 irons, the Speed Pocket stabilizes ball speed on low-face strikes.

The Qi Max HL irons focus on maximum forgiveness with larger head profiles, higher faces, and thicker soles and toplines for added stability and confidence. Their lofts are 3° weaker than the Qi Max, combined with ultra-light heads, shafts, and grips, benefiting players with slower swing speeds by increasing clubhead speed, launch height, and stopping ability.

New Design and Availability

Both models feature a bright, monochromatic design inspired by the P-Series. They are available in steel for €183 per iron and graphite shafts for €200 per iron. Pre-orders begin January 8, 2026, with availability in stores from January 29, 2026.
