The new TaylorMade Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons offer distance, forgiveness, and design in one complete package.
TaylorMade introduces the new Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons, representing a new generation of game-improvement irons focused on enhanced distance, forgiveness, sound, and feel, while also addressing aesthetic needs.
TaylorMade Qi Max and Qi Max HL: Next Generation Game-Improvement Irons
A key development aspect was the clubface design. Typically asymmetrical with a higher toe than heel, many game-improvement irons tend to deform unevenly upon impact, causing additional cut spin and shots trending right when struck near the toe. The Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons feature a clubface engineered for more uniform bending, resulting in more stable ball flight and straighter trajectories with high ball speed.
Sound, Feel, and Internal Enhancements
Beyond pure performance, feel was also critical. Both models incorporate a sound stabilization bar connecting the rear hosel to the topline, reinforcing the topline and reducing unwanted noise at impact.
Additionally, the ECHO damping material was moved higher in the clubface to reduce vibrations and provide a solid sound without losing the desired impact feedback. Individually optimized faces and new internal structures further support speed and consistent distance.
Two Designs for Different Player Types
The Qi Max irons target players seeking distance and forgiveness in a relatively compact design with thinner toplines, shorter blade lengths, and less offset as the head blends seamlessly into the hosel. Using FLTD CG, the center of gravity is especially low in long irons for high launch and stopping power while shifting higher in short irons for better distance control. Speed Pockets in irons 4 to 8 maintain ball speed on low strikes.
The Qi Max HL irons are designed for maximum forgiveness with larger heads, higher faces, and thicker soles and toplines to increase stability and confidence. Lofts are 3° weaker than Qi Max and combined with ultra-light heads, shafts, and grips, benefit players with slower swing speeds by increasing clubhead speed, launch height, and stopping ability.
New Design and Availability
Both iron models feature a bright, monochrome design inspired by the P-Series. Available in steel for 183 Euros per iron and graphite shafts for 200 Euros per iron, pre-orders start January 8, 2026. They will be available in stores beginning January 29, 2026.
