Odyssey uses AI: New Ai-DUAL putters with smart insert design aim to enhance ball speed and accuracy on putts.
Odyssey, a subsidiary of Callaway, has expanded its putter lineup with the new Ai-DUAL models, combining material innovation and novel design. Central to these putters is the Ai-DUAL Insert, a two-layer urethane component developed using artificial intelligence, featuring a soft outer layer and a firmer inner layer. This design aims to provide consistent ball speed across the entire face and improved forward roll. The insert is complemented by the new Forward Roll Design (FRD) milled grooves with a 19-degree face angle, deeper and more pronounced than previous models, helping the ball roll forward more evenly across the face.
AI-Designed Putters Including Entry Models
The Ai-DUAL putters come in various versions. Standard models feature a lightweight steel shaft with a counterweight at the grip end to stabilize the stroke. For players preferring different balance, Odyssey offers Cruiser variants, equipped with heavier heads, longer and heavier shafts, and extended grips.
The Odyssey Ai-DUAL Square 2 as a Zero-Torque Putter
An extension of the line, the Ai-DUAL Square 2 putters feature a modern, center-shafted design positioned below the center of gravity, allowing the shaft tip to rest slightly upward and creating a ‘zero torque’ effect. This construction keeps the face relatively square during the stroke. These models also have a preset two-degree forward shaft lean to prevent accidental face opening when pressing forward with the hands. A specially designed reverse-taper grip compensates for this setting, enabling a comfortable, parallel alignment of the grip and face.
