Odyssey introduces AI in golf: Ai-DUAL putters enhance precision and ball speed

Odyssey uses AI: The new Ai-DUAL putters improve ball speed and precision through intelligent insert design.

Odyssey, a subsidiary of Callaway, has expanded its putter line with the new Ai-DUAL models, combining material innovation and novel design. At the core is the Ai-DUAL insert, a two-layer urethane element developed with artificial intelligence, featuring a soft outer layer and a firmer inner layer, designed to provide consistent ball speed across the clubface and improved forward roll. This insert is complemented by the new Forward Roll Design (FRD) groove, which, with a 19-degree tilt, is deeper and more pronounced than in previous models to promote more consistent forward roll across the entire face.

Entry-level models also developed with AI

The Ai-DUAL putters come in various versions. Standard models feature a lightweight steel shaft with a counterweight at the grip end to stabilize the stroke. For players preferring a different balance, Odyssey offers Cruiser variants equipped with heavier heads, longer and heavier shafts, and longer grips.

The Odyssey Ai-DUAL Square 2 as a zero-torque putter

An extension of the line, the Ai-DUAL Square 2 Square putters have a modern, center-shafted design positioning the shaft below the center of gravity, causing the putter to rest slightly upward at the tip, achieving a \”zero torque\” effect. This construction keeps the face relatively square through the stroke. Additionally, these models have a preset 2-degree forward shaft lean to prevent accidental face opening during hand forward pressure. A specially developed reverse taper grip compensates for this setting, allowing comfortable, parallel alignment of grip and face.
