Membership Renewed, No Suspension: Koepka Returns to PGA Tour Immediately

First start already at the Farmers, Vijay Singh ready for another go, Charley Hull soon on YouTube. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has opted out of the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major winner remains connected to the rival circuit but needs more time for family. This was reportedly a friendly agreement, stated LIV CEO Scott McNeil. Skeptics point out Koepka’s competitive spirit, which thrives in high-level competition—a factor LIV only partially satisfied. Koepka initially joined LIV in 2022 mainly due to injury concerns about ending his career prematurely and to secure a substantial retirement fund. Thus, skipping the last contractual season is not surprising, though questions remain about buyouts or repayments. It’s unclear if the 35-year-old remains an owner of his LIV team Smash GC, which named Talor Gooch as captain.

Speculation is rife about where Koepka will tee off next: the DP World Tour, where he would be immediately eligible, possibly facing a penalty fee, or the PGA Tour, where a one-year suspension has been reduced, allowing potential return. According to ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach, Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership and rejoin the player ranks.
