Membership Renewed, No Suspension: Koepka Immediately Back on PGA Tour

First start already at the Farmers, Vijay Singh is ready to compete again, Charley Hull soon on YouTube. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has officially withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major champion remains connected to the competing circuit but needs more time for his family. This was a mutual agreement, according to LIV-CEO Scott McNeil’s official statement. Koepka is known as a competitor who thrives on high-level competition, something he felt only limitedly in LIV. He initially joined LIV in 2022 likely because injury concerns shortened his career and he wanted a substantial retirement fund. Given that, skipping the last contractual season is not surprising, but questions remain, such as if he had to buy out or repay part of his guaranteed earnings. He remains the owner of LIV team Smash GC, which has appointed Talor Gooch as its new captain.

Speculation grows about where Koepka will compete next—on the DP World Tour, where he could play immediately possibly after paying a penalty, or on the PGA Tour, where he faces a one-year suspension since his last LIV event, following the relaxation of previously imposed lifetime bans. Why be vindictive when every LIV returnee helps the dominant PGA Tour? This question seems partially answered. According to ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach, Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership, which was not renewed after 2022, to rejoin the playing field.
