Membership Renewed, No Suspension: Koepka Returns Immediately to PGA Tour

First start already at the Farmers, Vijay Singh wants to try again, Charley Hull soon on YouTube. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has officially opted out of the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major winner will remain connected to the rival circuit but needs more time for family. This was amicably agreed upon, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s official statement. Koepka is a competitor who thrives on high-level competition, something he found somewhat lacking at LIV. He originally joined LIV in 2022 mainly due to injury concerns about his career and to secure a substantial retirement fund. His skipping the final contracted season is thus not surprising, although questions remain regarding potential buyouts or salary reimbursements. He still owns his LIV team Smash GC, which has named Talor Gooch as its new captain.

Speculation centers on where Koepka will next compete—DP World Tour, where he would immediately be eligible possibly with a penalty? Or the PGA Tour, where he faces a one-year suspension from his last LIV participation, although previous lifetime bans have been significantly softened? This crucial question seems partly answered. ESPN’s Mark Schlabach reported that last Friday Koepka formally applied to reinstate his PGA Tour membership, which was not renewed after 2022.
