Membership Renewed, No Suspension: Koepka Back on PGA Tour Immediately

First start already at the Farmers, Vijay Singh still eager, Charley Hull soon on YouTube. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has officially opted out of the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major champion intends to stay connected to the rival circuit but needs more time for his family. This was a friendly agreement, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s official statement. Koepka is a competitor who thrives on high-level challenges and rarely showed such motivation in LIV Golf. He switched mainly in 2022 because of injury concerns and to secure a comfortable retirement fund. His decision to forgo the final contract year raises questions: Did he buy out the contract or refund part of his guaranteed salary? Does he remain the owner of his LIV team Smash GC, which has named Talor Gooch as captain?

Speculation is rife on where Koepka will next compete. DP World Tour eligibility is immediate, possibly requiring a penalty fee, or PGA Tour, where he faces a year-long suspension since his last LIV appearance, but lifetime bans imposed by former commissioner Jay Monahan were significantly softened. Returning players ease pressure on the dominant PGA Tour, making reintegration feasible. ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach revealed Koepka submitted a formal request last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership which lapsed after 2022.
