Membership Renewed, No Suspension: Koepka Returns to PGA Tour Immediately

First start already at the Farmers, Vijay Singh aims to compete again, Charley Hull soon on YouTube. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from the LIV Golf League for the 2026 season, which begins on February 7 in Riyadh. The five-time major champion will remain connected to the competing circuit but needs more time for his family. This was reportedly agreed upon amicably, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s official statement. Koepka is a competitive type who thrives on high-level competition, which he only partially found at LIV. He initially joined LIV in 2022, fearing an early career end due to injuries and to secure a solid retirement fund. His decision to forgo the last contract year is therefore not surprising, although questions remain about whether he had to buy out or return part of his guaranteed salary. He still owns his LIV team Smash GC, which has named Talor Gooch as the new captain.

Speculation abounds about where Koepka will play next: the DP World Tour, where he would immediately be eligible, possibly with a penalty; or the PGA Tour, where he would have to serve a one-year suspension after his last LIV appearance, following the easing of previously lifetime bans by former commissioner Jay Monahan. Why be vindictive when every LIV returnee strengthens the established tour that holds the upper hand? This key question seems partially answered. ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach reported that last Friday Koepka formally applied to reactivate his PGA Tour membership, which was not extended after 2022, seeking reinstatement in the players’ circle.
