Membership Renewed, No Suspension: Koepka Back on PGA Tour Immediately

As expected, Brooks Koepka has officially withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season, which begins February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major champion remains connected to the rival circuit but needs more family time. This was amicably agreed upon, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s official statement. Koepka is a competitor who thrives on top-level competition, something he only partially found at LIV. He joined LIV in 2022 mainly because injuries had jeopardized his career, and he wanted a solid retirement fund. Skipping the final contract year is therefore unsurprising, though questions remain: Did he have to buy out his contract or repay part of his guaranteed salary? Does the 35-year-old remain an owner of the LIV team Smash GC, which has appointed Talor Gooch as captain?

There is much speculation about where Koepka will next compete. On the DP World Tour, where he would be immediately eligible—possibly after a penalty? Or on the PGA Tour, where he faces a one-year suspension following his last LIV start, reduced significantly from previous lifetime bans. Why be vindictive when every returning LIV player boosts the already stronger Tour? This key question seems partly answered. ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach reported that last Friday, Koepka formally applied to reactivate his PGA Tour membership, which had not been renewed after 2022, seeking reinstatement.

His potential suspension would end in August, coinciding with the Tour Championship concluding the 2026 season. Koepka would then be eligible for 2027 under the
