Koepka Renewed PGA Tour Membership, No Ban: Ready to Return Immediately

First start already at the Farmers, Vijay Singh eager to compete again, Charley Hull to launch YouTube channel soon. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has opted out of the 2026 LIV Golf season commencing February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major winner remains connected to the competing circuit but wants more family time. This was reportedly a friendly agreement, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil. Koepka, known as a fierce competitor who thrives in top-level contests, found limited motivation at LIV. He initially joined LIV in 2022 fearing career-ending injuries but wanting to secure a solid retirement fund. Thus, skipping his final contractual season is not surprising, though questions remain regarding any buyout or repayment of guarantees. Koepka also remains owner of his LIV team Smash GC, recently appointing Talor Gooch as captain.

Speculation abounds about which tours Koepka will compete on next—DP World Tour where he’d instantly be eligible, potentially paying a penalty, or PGA Tour where he faces a one-year suspension following his last LIV appearance, after former Commissioner Jay Monahan reduced lifetime bans. Why hold grudges when every returning LIV player benefits the PGA Tour? ESPN’s Mark Schlabach reported Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership, which was not renewed after 2022.
