Koepka’s Membership Renewed: No Ban, He’s Back on the PGA Tour

First start already at Farmers, Vijay Singh aiming for a comeback, Charley Hull soon on YouTube. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from the LIV Golf League season 2026, which begins on February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major winner will stay connected to the rival circuit but needs more time for family. This was the official statement from LIV CEO Scott McNeil. Koepka is a competitor who gets highly motivated and fired up only in top-level sports contests, something he rarely experienced at LIV. He had largely joined the Saudi venture in 2022 due to injury concerns about the end of his career and to secure retirement funds. Thus, his decision to skip the last contracted season is not surprising, although questions remain. Did he buy out his contract or repay part of his guaranteed salary? Does the 35-year-old remain owner of his LIV team Smash GC, which has appointed Talor Gooch as captain?

Speculation is rife about which fairways Koepka will soon appear on. The DP World Tour would grant him immediate playing rights, possibly against a penalty payment. Alternatively, the PGA Tour, where he would serve a one-year suspension since his last LIV event after previous lifetime bans by former commissioner Jay Monahan were significantly softened. Why maintain grudges when every returning LIV player, especially a star like Koepka, helps the PGA Tour that has stronger leverage? This crucial question seems partially answered. ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach reported that Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership, which had lapsed after 2022, seeking reinstatement into the players’ circle.
