Membership Renewed, No Ban: Koepka Returns Immediately to the PGA Tour

First start already at the Farmers, Vijay Singh wants to compete again, Charley Hull soon on YouTube. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has opted out of the 2026 LIV Golf season beginning February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major champion remains connected to the rival circuit but needs more time for family. This was reportedly a mutual, friendly agreement according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil. Koepka, known as a competitor who thrives on high-level sporting battles, had been somewhat limited in motivation at LIV. He originally joined LIV in 2022 due to injuries threatening his career and to secure a solid retirement fund. Thus, his waiver of the last contractually obligatory season comes as no surprise, though questions remain about possible buyouts or repayments. He still owns the LIV team Smash GC, now captained by Talor Gooch.

Much speculation surrounds where Koepka will next compete—on the DP World Tour where he would be immediately eligible, possibly after a penalty, or on the PGA Tour where he faces a one-year suspension following his last LIV appearance, after previous life bans were significantly eased. Why be vindictive when every LIV returnee strengthens the dominant PGA Tour? This key question seems partly answered. According to ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach, Koepka formally applied last Friday to reinstate his PGA Tour membership inactive since 2022 and rejoin the player ranks.
