Membership Reapplied: Koepka Prepares for PGA Tour Return

Bryson DeChambeau confirms LIV start in 2026, Vijay Singh aims for a comeback, Charley Hull to launch a YouTube channel. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has opted out for the 2026 LIV Golf League season beginning February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major winner remains connected to the rival circuit but requires more time for family, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s official statement. Koepka, known as a competitor who thrives on top-level contests, has been less motivated in LIV. He had joined LIV in 2022, fearing injury might end his career early and to secure a solid retirement fund. His decision to forgo the final contractual season is not surprising, though questions remain whether he had to buy out or return part of his guaranteed fee. He remains the owner of LIV team Smash GC, which recently named Talor Gooch as the new captain.

Speculation rises about Koepka’s next tour: the DP World Tour, where immediate eligibility might come at a penalty, or the PGA Tour, where he must serve a one-year suspension since his last LIV appearance, after previously imposed lifetime bans were eased. Following information from ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach, Koepka formally applied to reactivate his PGA Tour membership last Friday and be readmitted to competition.

DeChambeau Confirms LIV Start for 2026

Meanwhile, Bryson DeChambeau officially confirmed his participation in the LIV Golf League in 2026. His Crushers team with Charles Howell III, Paul Casey, and Anirban Lahiri will enter the fifth season unchanged. Interestingly, DeChambeau did not announce a general contract extension, fueling speculation about behind-the-scenes agreements to retain the league’s most marketable active player after Koepka’s departure.

Vijay Singh: Returning to PGA Tour at 62

In a surprising move, Vijay Singh returns to the PGA Tour at age 62. The three-time major champion from Fiji uses his career money list exemption and will compete at this week’s Sony Open in Hawaii. Singh has competed on the PGA Tour Champions, winning five titles including the Senior Players Championship.

TGL Faces Low TV Ratings in Season Two Start

The Tomorrow’s Golf League struggles with ratings without Tiger Woods, with only 646,000 viewers tuning in on ABC for the second season opener, down from 919,000 on ESPN in season one. The second match attracted just 354,000 viewers. Woods, along with Rory McIlroy and partner Mike McCarley, need to find a new star to maintain excitement.
