After the comebacks of Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed on the PGA Tour, debate reignites over YouTube golf star Wesley Bryan’s suspension.
Ten months ago, PGA Tour professional and YouTube star Wesley Bryan was indefinitely suspended by the PGA Tour. The reason was his participation in a LIV Golf Creator Event, the “LIV Duels,” which is a rival event to the PGA Tour’s Creator Classic. With Koepka and Reed making their returns, Bryan had hoped to compete again on the world’s biggest golf tour this season.
No Chance of Reprieve Yet for Wesley Bryan
However, Bryan has not been granted that opportunity at this time. “Unfortunately, Brooks Koepka’s return to the tour has no bearing on my situation,” Bryan stated on X. “I requested a meeting to possibly lift my suspension, but I was informed that such a conversation will not take place.” Many fans and observers find this confusing since Bryan never officially played for LIV Golf, unlike others granted permission. Instead, he participated in a 9-hole scramble YouTube event held in cooperation with LIV Golf, which many consider a different situation.
One-Year Suspension for Returning Players
Other previously suspended players, like Kevin Na, Pat Perez, and Hudson Swafford, are also set to return to the PGA Tour after their time with LIV Golf. However, unlike Reed and Koepka, they must wait to make their debut again. Players who do not meet the “Returning Member Program” criteria can only start next season. Perez and Swafford have officially regained their PGA membership but can only participate in tournaments from 2027 onwards.
There are speculations that Bryan might have a similar option once over a year has passed since his participation in the LIV Duels. Whether the PGA Tour will offer this to the one-time tour winner remains to be seen.
Appreciate all the support recently! Unfortunately, Brooks Koepka coming back to the tour has no bearing on my situation. I have reached out and asked for a conversation to potentially uplift my suspension, and I have been told that no such conversation will be given….
