Cobra introduces the new OPTM Drivers, setting new standards in precision and accuracy with four innovative models.
Cobra is launching a new line of drivers for 2026 that redefines driver design. Instead of focusing solely on maximum forgiveness, the brand emphasizes directional stability of the clubhead. This is made possible by the new POI (Point of Inertia) technology, highlighting a previously overlooked measure of precision and significantly reducing dispersion.
Cobra OPTM Driver: A New Approach to Directional Stability
The OPTM driver family introduces a generation of drivers prioritizing directional stability of the clubhead at impact over just length or forgiveness. The newly developed POI technology measures complex 3D rotational movements, helping to deliver more consistent drives according to Cobra.
POI as a Complement to Traditional MOI
While high MOI values have long been the benchmark in driver design for resistance against twisting on off-center hits, POI addresses diagonal and multidimensional rotational movements. A low POI value reduces these rotations, minimizing unwanted side spin and dispersion by up to 23 percent, as stated by Cobra.
AI-Driven Shaping and Weighting
Cobra uses AI-optimized shapes and adaptive weighting to keep POI low across all OPTM models. Rounded clubhead shapes bring the center of gravity closer to the geometric center. External weights placed at new calculated positions further minimize rotational movements at impact, combining high MOI stability with improved directional accuracy through low POI.
Four Models Designed for Different Players
The OPTM family includes four models tailored to various player types: OPTM LS for high swing speeds and low handicaps focusing on low spin and max ball speed, OPTM X as a versatile option with neutral ball flight, OPTM MAX-K delivering maximum forgiveness with high MOI, and OPTM MAX-D targeting slice correction and higher launch. All feature POI technology and multi-material construction with carbon crown, titanium frame, and H.O.T. Face.
Customizability, Campaign, and Market Launch
The FUTUREFIT33 hosel system provides 33 independent loft and lie combinations for quick, extensive custom fitting. The OPTM drivers will be available in European markets from January 20, 2026, priced at €629.
