Cobra OPTM Driver: Setting New Standards in Precision

Cobra introduces the new OPTM Drivers, setting new standards in precision and accuracy with four innovative models.

Cobra kicks off 2026 with a new line of drivers, opening a new chapter in driver design. Instead of focusing solely on maximum forgiveness, the manufacturer emphasizes directional stability of the clubhead. This is made possible by the new POI technology, which brings an underappreciated measure of precision into focus and significantly reduces shot dispersion.

Cobra OPTM Driver: A New Approach to Directional Stability

The OPTM driver family offers a new generation of drivers prioritizing not only maximum distance or high forgiveness but a key focus on the directional stability of the clubhead at impact. This concept is based on the newly developed POI (Point of Inertia) technology, which Cobra claims contributes decisively to more consistent drives.

POI as a Complement to Traditional MOI

For years, a high MOI (Moment of Inertia) was the benchmark in driver design, indicating resistance to twisting on off-center hits along horizontal and vertical axes. POI targets a different dimension by measuring how much the clubhead moves diagonally and in three dimensions across all axes. A low POI value reduces these complex rotations, thereby lowering unwanted side deviations. Cobra cites up to a 23 percent reduction in dispersion due to this technology.

AI-Driven Shaping and Weighting

To minimize POI, all OPTM models combine AI-optimized clubhead shapes with adaptive weighting. The heads are rounder to bring the center of gravity closer to the geometric center. Additionally, externally placed weights at newly calculated positions reduce rotational movement at impact. The goal is to combine high stability through MOI with improved directional accuracy via low POI.

Four Models for Different Player Types

The OPTM driver family includes four models catering to various player profiles. The OPTM LS targets high swing speeds and low handicaps, focusing on low spin and maximum ball speed. The OPTM X is a versatile model designed for a broad performance range with neutral ball flight characteristics. The OPTM MAX-K offers maximum forgiveness with high MOI, while the OPTM MAX-D is specifically designed for slice correction and higher launch. All models feature POI technology and a multi-material construction including a carbon crown, titanium frame, and H.O.T. Face faceplate.

Adjustability, Campaign, and Market Launch

The concept is complemented by the FUTUREFIT33 hosel system allowing 33 independent loft and lie combinations, offering extensive customization that enables players to make quick adjustments on their own. The OPTM drivers will be available in European markets starting January 20, 2026, at a retail price of 629 euros.
