Cobra OPTM Driver Sets New Standards for Precision and Accuracy

Cobra introduces the new OPTM Drivers, setting new standards in precision and accuracy with four innovative models.

At the start of 2026, Cobra is launching a new line of drivers. With the OPTM driver family, Cobra opens a new chapter in driver design. Instead of solely focusing on maximum forgiveness, the manufacturer emphasizes directional stability of the clubhead. This is made possible by the new POI technology, which shifts attention to a previously underappreciated measure of precision and aims to significantly reduce shot dispersion.

Cobra OPTM Driver: A New Approach to Directional Stability

The OPTM driver family introduces a new generation of drivers where maximum distance or high forgiveness are no longer the sole focus. Instead, the brand highlights the directional stability of the clubhead at impact. This approach is based on the newly developed POI (Point of Inertia) technology, which Cobra claims contributes significantly to more consistent drives.

POI as a Complement to Traditional MOI

For years, a high MOI value has been the benchmark in driver design, describing resistance to twisting on off-center hits along horizontal and vertical axes. POI approaches the challenge differently by measuring the clubhead’s diagonal and three-dimensional movement across all axes. A low POI value reduces these complex rotations, thereby minimizing unwanted shot deviations. Cobra states this can reduce shot dispersion by up to 23%.

AI-Driven Shaping and Weighting

To achieve a low POI, Cobra employs AI-optimized clubhead shapes combined with adaptive weighting across all OPTM models. The clubheads are designed more rounded to bring the center of gravity closer to the geometric center. Additionally, external weights positioned according to new calculations minimize rotational movement at impact. The goal is to combine the high stability of MOI with the enhanced directional accuracy from a low POI.

Four Models Targeting Specific Player Needs

The OPTM driver family includes four models catering to different player types. The OPTM LS is designed for high swing speeds and low handicaps, focusing on low spin and maximum ball speed. The OPTM X serves as a versatile model for a broad range of players with neutral ball flight characteristics. The OPTM MAX-K offers maximum forgiveness with high MOI, while the OPTM MAX-D targets slice correction and higher launch. All models benefit from POI technology and feature a multi-material construction with a carbon crown, titanium frame, and H.O.T. Face.

Customization, Campaign, and Market Launch

The concept is enhanced by the FUTUREFIT33 hosel system, allowing 33 independently adjustable loft and lie combinations, offering extensive customization and enabling quick self-adjustments. The OPTM drivers will be available in European stores from January 20, 2026, priced at 629 euros.
