Cobra KING Irons: Advanced Technology for Easier Golf Play

Cobra expands the KING family with new KING and KING MAX irons featuring advanced technology for easier play.

Cobra has expanded its KING family with the new KING and KING MAX irons. These modern irons combine innovative technologies for higher ball flight, more distance, improved forgiveness, and a more stable strike feel. From a lower center of gravity to a flexible face and an optimized sole, the new models make the game easier, support controlled shots, and offer different options to provide every player type with maximum performance on the green.

Cobra KING Irons: Game Improvement through Modern Technology

With the new KING and KING MAX irons, Cobra has added two models aimed specifically at mid- and high-handicap players. The focus is on technologies designed to make the game easier: higher ball launch, more length, improved tolerance for mishits, and an overall more stable strike feel.

Lower Center of Gravity for Higher Ball Flight

A key element of the new irons is a 3D-printed medallion from Cobra’s premium 3DP series. Thanks to its fine lattice structure, weight can be saved and redistributed within the clubhead. This places the center of gravity about two millimeters lower, which directly impacts play: the ball launches higher and lands steeper on the green, enhancing control and stopping power, making it easier to hit greens.

More Speed with Consistent Feel

On the distance front, Cobra incorporates technical support as well. The 360 Speedshell face offers much more flex across the entire hitting area, resulting in more consistent ball speeds—even on off-center hits. This is supported by an 80-gram catapult weight housed in a vibration-damping polymer. The result is not only more consistent distance but also a solid, pleasant strike feel with a balanced sound.

Improved Turf Interaction through New Sole Design

Another playing advantage comes from the updated Skid Sole design. A pre-sanded leading edge with added bounce and a flatter mid-sole enable the club to glide more cleanly through the turf. This reduces resistance at impact, improves turf contact, and further supports the low center of gravity in the clubhead.

Two Models for Different Player Types

The two models differ deliberately in shape and specifications. The KING iron targets players with somewhat higher swing speeds and handicaps around 10 to 20 seeking maximum speed and forgiveness. The KING MAX iron is larger, offers more offset, weaker lofts, and additional stability on toe and heel strikes. It is especially suitable for players desiring higher ball flight, draw tendencies, and maximum support.

Market Launch and Price

The new Cobra KING irons will be available in European stores from February 3rd. The retail price for both models is 999 euros for a set of six irons with steel or graphite shafts.
