At the Mitsubishi Electric Championship of the Champions Tour held at the Hualalai Golf Course in Kaʻūpūlehu on the Hawaiian volcanic island of Hawaii, American Stewart Cink emerged victorious and claimed the trophy. The two German participants, Bernhard Langer and Alex Cejka, moved into contention near the Top 10 on the leaderboard after three rounds.
Champions Tour: Stewart Cink dominates in Hawaii
Stewart Cink started strong on Thursday with a 66, placing himself early in the top ranks of the leaderboard. Although he took a bogey on the 16th hole in his second round, he secured an impressive 63 on Friday with a total of ten birdies. Finishing with a 64 on the final day, Cink shone at the top of the leaderboard with a total of 23 under par.
Behind him, Argentine Ángel Cabrera impressed with an eagle in the final round, scoring a 66 with five birdies and one bogey. Cabrera became particularly dangerous on day two, advancing confidently to third place on the leaderboard. He also delivered an outstanding 62 on Friday. The 56-year-old from Córdoba province completed the front nine flawlessly starting with five birdies and an eagle. On the back nine, Cabrera added five birdies but had bogeys on holes 11 and 17. Despite trailing American Stewart Cink by three strokes, Cabrera secured second place with a two-stroke lead over South African Retief Goosen.
Bernhard Langer steadily climbs into Top 10
Bernhard Langer progressively moved into the Top 10 during the tournament in Hawaii. He started Thursday with a 70, positioned mid-field. On the second day, Langer achieved seven birdies and an eagle, suffering only a single bogey on hole 15. His solid 64, eight under par, made him confident heading into the final round. On day three, Langer improved by two spots with a 68, finishing ninth overall at 14 under par.
German professional golfer of Czech origin, Alex Cejka, also approached the Top 10. After rounds of 68 and 70 on Thursday and Friday placed him 24th, the 55
