Under Armour’s flagship golf shoe launches February 6, offering golfers perfect fit, power, consistency, comfort and style.
Under Armour opens a new chapter in golf performance footwear history with the introduction of the Drive Pro Clone. Designed to help golfers move more naturally and play with greater confidence under varying conditions, it addresses a longstanding challenge: traditional golf shoes often struggle to adapt to the natural shape and movements of a golfer’s foot, limiting comfort and negatively impacting performance.
Rigid constructions can restrict a shoe’s adaptability during the swing, affecting overall fit and consistency on the course. The Drive Pro Clone offers an adaptive solution that responds to a golfer’s movements, providing a custom fit for the foot.
“Conventional golf shoes cause gaps, pressure points, and power loss because they are based on a single, fixed shape,” says Jake Haley, Senior Manager for Golf Footwear and Apparel at Under Armour. “With the Drive Pro Clone, our goal was to eliminate these compromises completely. Every golfer deserves a shoe that adapts to them, not the other way around. This design offers athletes a truly personalized fit that stays consistent from the first to the last swing.”
Under Armour Revolutionizes Golf Footwear with Adaptive Technology
The innovation at the heart of this shoe is Under Armour’s proprietary auxetic Clone upper material, which behaves less like a static fabric and more like a dynamic surface. By expanding, contracting, and conforming to the unique geometry of the foot, Clone creates an adaptive fit that remains constant throughout an entire round regardless of fatigue, terrain, or conditions.
“Clone adapts to the shape and movement of your foot, ensuring you get the same support from the first to the last swing,” says Kyle Blakely, SVP of Innovation and Design Studio at Under Armour. “Because the material acts more like a dynamic surface than traditional textile or leather, athletes benefit from a more even fit, improved energy transfer, and a more stable platform during the entire round.”
Early Tour Victories Confirm Performance
Combined with Under Armour’s Swing Support System, the Drive Pro Clone delivers more repeatable power, giving golfers greater confidence with every swing. This innovation underscores Under Armour’s commitment to meeting golfers’ needs through material science, precise design, and on-course tested performance.
The shoe has already been used in numerous international tournaments, contributing to two wins on the DP World Tour: Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen earned his first victory at the Australian Open in December, and Patrick Reed relied on the fit and performance of the Clone at his recent Hero Dubai Desert Classic victory.
The new Drive Pro Clone is available in both spiked and spikeless models starting February 6. Recommended retail prices are £160/€200 for spiked and £140/€180 for spikeless versions. The shoe comes in four colorways: Black/Anthracite/Metallic Gold; Distant Grey/Midnight Navy/Metallic Silver; White/White/Metallic Gun Metal; Stone/Gridiron Brown/Metallic Gun Metal.
