Under Armour’s flagship golf shoe launches Feb 6, offering golfers perfect fit, power, consistency, and exceptional comfort and style.
Under Armour Revolutionizes Golf Shoe Fit Technology
Under Armour opens a new chapter in golf shoe performance with the Drive Pro Clone. Designed to help golfers move naturally and play confidently under varying conditions, the shoe addresses a longstanding challenge: traditional golf shoes often fail to adapt to the natural shape and motion of a golfer’s foot, limiting comfort and potentially affecting performance.
Rigid constructions can restrict a shoe’s adaptability during the swing, impacting overall fit and consistency on the course. The Drive Pro Clone offers an adaptive solution that moves with the golfer’s foot, providing a personalized fit throughout the round.
“Traditional golf shoes cause gaps, pressure points, and power loss because they are based on a single, rigid shape,” explains Jake Haley, Senior Manager of Golf Shoes and Apparel at Under Armour. “With the Drive Pro Clone, we aimed to eliminate these compromises. Every golfer deserves a shoe that adapts to them, not the other way around. This design offers athletes a truly individualized fit that remains consistent from the first to the last swing.”
Consistent Support from First to Last Swing
Central to the innovation is Under Armour’s proprietary auxetic Clone upper material, which behaves less like a static fabric and more like a dynamic surface. By expanding, contracting, and adapting to the unique geometry of the foot, Clone creates an adaptive fit that remains consistent throughout the round, regardless of fatigue, terrain, or conditions.
“Clone adapts to the shape and movement of your foot, ensuring consistent support from the first to the last swing,” says Kyle Blakely, SVP of Innovation and Design Studio at Under Armour. “As the material behaves like a dynamic surface rather than conventional textiles or leather, athletes benefit from a more uniform fit, better energy transfer, and a more stable platform throughout the round.”
Already Proven on Tour with Wins
Combined with Under Armour’s Swing Support System, the Drive Pro Clone delivers more repeatable power and confidence on every swing. This golf shoe innovation underscores Under Armour’s commitment to meeting golfers’ needs through material science, precise design, and on-course performance testing.
The shoe has already been used in numerous international tournaments, contributing to two wins on the DP World Tour: Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen secured his first victory at the Australian Open in December, and Patrick Reed trusted the fit and performance of the Clone in his recent win at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic.
The Drive Pro Clone is available both as a spiked and spikeless model from February 6. The recommended retail price is £160/€200 (spiked) and £140/€180 (spikeless). It comes in four colorways: Black/Anthracite/Metallic Gold; Distant Grey/Midnight Navy/Metallic Silver; White/White/Metallic Gunmetal; and Stone/Gridiron Brown/Metallic Gunmetal.
