Under Armour’s flagship golf shoe model launches February 6, delivering perfect fit, power, repeatability, and exceptional comfort and style.
Under Armour Revolutionizes Golf Shoes with New Adaptive Technology
Under Armour launches the Drive Pro Clone, a groundbreaking golf performance shoe designed to help golfers move naturally and play with confidence under varying conditions. This addresses a long-standing challenge in golf shoe design: traditional models often fail to adapt to the natural shape and movement of a golfer’s foot, limiting comfort and impacting performance negatively.
Rigid constructions can restrict shoe adaptability during the swing, affecting fit and consistency on the course. The Drive Pro Clone offers an adaptive solution that adjusts to the golfer’s movements, ensuring a personalized fit.
“Conventional golf shoes create gaps, pressure points, and power loss because they’re built on a single fixed shape,” said Jake Haley, Senior Manager of Golf Footwear and Apparel at Under Armour. “With the Drive Pro Clone, we aimed to eliminate these compromises entirely. Every golfer deserves a shoe that adapts to them, not the other way around. This design provides athletes a truly individualized fit that remains consistent from the first to the last swing.”
Consistent Support from First to Last Swing
The innovation centers on Under Armour’s proprietary auxetic Clone upper material, which behaves less like a static fabric and more like a dynamic surface. Its expansion, contraction, and adaptation to the unique contours of the foot create a fit that stays consistent throughout the round, regardless of fatigue, terrain, or conditions.
“Clone conforms to the shape and movement of your foot, ensuring you receive the same support from the first to the last swing,” said Kyle Blakely, SVP of Innovation and Design Studio at Under Armour. “Because the material acts more like a dynamic surface than traditional textile or leather, athletes benefit from a more uniform fit, better energy transfer, and a more stable platform throughout their round.”
Already Contributing to Tour Success
Paired with Under Armour’s Swing Support System, the Drive Pro Clone delivers more repeatable power and builds golfer confidence with every swing. This golf shoe innovation highlights Under Armour’s commitment to meeting golfers’ needs through materials science, precise design, and on-course tested performance.
The new shoe has been worn at numerous international tournaments, contributing to two wins on the DP World Tour: Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen’s maiden victory at the Australian Open in December, and Patrick Reed’s recent win at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, both relying on the Clone’s fit and performance.
The Drive Pro Clone is available with spikes or in a spikeless model starting February 6. Recommended retail prices are £160/€200 (with spikes) and £140/€180 (spikeless). The shoe comes in four colorways: Black/Anthracite/Metallic Gold; Distant Grey/Midnight Navy/Metallic Silver; White/White/Metallic Gun Metal; Stone/Gridiron Brown/Metallic Gun Metal.
