Under Armour’s flagship golf shoe launches Feb 6, providing perfect fit, power, consistency, and exceptional comfort and style.
Under Armour is opening a new chapter in golf performance footwear with the launch of the Drive Pro Clone. Designed to help golfers move naturally and play with more confidence under varying conditions, this shoe addresses a long-standing challenge in golf footwear: conventional designs often struggle to conform to the natural shape and movement of a golfer’s foot, limiting comfort and ultimately affecting player performance.
Rigid constructions can restrict a shoe’s adaptability during the swing, impacting overall fit and consistency on the course. The Drive Pro Clone offers an adaptive solution that adjusts to the golfer’s movements and ensures a custom fit for the foot.
“Traditional golf shoes create gaps, pressure points, and power loss because they rely on a single, fixed shape,” says Jake Haley, Senior Manager for Golf Shoes and Apparel at Under Armour. “With the Drive Pro Clone, we’ve aimed to eliminate those compromises entirely. Every golfer deserves a shoe that adapts to them, not the other way around. This design provides athletes with a truly personalized fit that stays consistent from the first swing to the last.”
Revolutionizing Golf Footwear with Adaptive Technology
At the core of this shoe’s innovation is Under Armour’s proprietary auxetic Clone upper material, which behaves less like a static fabric and more like a dynamic surface. By expanding, contracting, and adapting to the unique geometry of the foot, Clone creates an adaptive fit that remains consistent throughout a full round—regardless of fatigue, terrain, or conditions.
“Clone conforms to the shape and movement of your foot, ensuring you get the same support from the first to the last swing,” says Kyle Blakely, SVP of Innovation and Design Studio at Under Armour. “Because the material acts more like a dynamic surface than traditional textiles or leather, athletes benefit from a more even fit, better energy transfer, and a more stable platform throughout the round.”
Proven Success on Tour
Combined with Under Armour’s Swing Support System, the Drive Pro Clone delivers more repeatable power and gives golfers greater confidence with every swing. This innovation in golf footwear underscores Under Armour’s commitment to meeting golfers’ needs through material science, precise design, and on-course tested performance.
The new shoe has already been used at numerous international tournaments and contributed to two wins on the DP World Tour: Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen earned his first victory at the Australian Open in December, and Patrick Reed trusted the fit and performance of the Clone in his recent win at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic.
The Drive Pro Clone is available in both spiked and spikeless models and will be available in stores from February 6. Recommended retail prices are £160/€200 with spikes and £140/€180 spikeless. The shoe will also be offered in four colorways: Black/Anthracite/Metallic Gold; Distant Grey/Midnight Navy/Metallic Silver; White/White/Metallic Gun Metal; Stone/Gridiron Brown/Metallic Gun Metal.
