Cobra expands the KING family with new KING and KING MAX irons featuring advanced technology for easier play.
Cobra extends its KING family with the new KING and KING MAX irons. These modern irons combine innovative technologies for higher ball flight, more distance, improved forgiveness, and a more stable feel. From a lower center of gravity to a flexible face and optimized sole, the new models make the game easier, support controlled shots, and offer different options to maximize performance on the green for every player type.
Cobra KING Irons: Game Improvement Through Modern Technology
With the new KING and KING MAX irons, Cobra expands its KING family with two models aimed specifically at mid- to high-handicap players. The focus is on technologies that make the game simpler: higher ball launch, more distance, improved forgiveness, and an overall more stable feel.
Lower Center of Gravity for Higher Ball Flight
A key component of the new irons is a 3D-printed medallion from Cobra’s premium 3DP series. Its delicate lattice structure saves weight that is redistributed within the clubhead. This lowers the center of gravity by about two millimeters, resulting in a noticeably higher ball flight that descends steeper onto the green, enhancing control and stopping power and making greens easier to hit.
Increased Speed with Consistent Feel
For distance, Cobra relies on technical support with the 360 Speedshell face, which flexes more across the entire hitting surface for more consistent ball speeds, even on off-center hits. This is aided by an 80-gram catapult weight housed in a vibration-damping polymer. The result is not only more consistent distance but also a solid, pleasant feel with balanced sound.
Improved Turf Interaction with New Sole Design
The redesigned skid sole features a pre-rounded leading edge with added bounce and a flatter mid-sole, allowing the club to glide cleaner through the turf. This reduces resistance at impact, improves turf interaction, and supports the clubhead’s low center of gravity.
Two Models for Different Player Types
The two models differ in shape and specifications. The KING iron targets players with somewhat higher swing speeds and handicaps around 10 to 20 seeking maximum speed and forgiveness. The KING MAX iron is larger, features more offset, weaker lofts, and added stability on toe and heel strikes, suited for players desiring higher ball flight, draw tendencies, and maximum support.
Market Release and Price
The new Cobra KING irons will be available in European retail on February 3rd. The retail price for both models is 999 euros for a set of six irons with steel or graphite shafts.
