Cobra expands the KING family with new KING and KING MAX irons featuring advanced technology for an easier playing experience.
Cobra extends its KING family with the new KING and KING MAX irons. These modern irons combine innovative technologies to deliver higher ball flight, more distance, improved forgiveness, and a more stable feel at impact. From a lower center of gravity to a flexible face and an optimized sole, the new models make the game easier, support controlled shots, and offer options to maximize performance on the green for every type of player.
Cobra KING Irons: Game Improvement through Modern Technology
The new KING and KING MAX irons target mid- and high-handicap players. The focus is on technology that simplifies the game: higher ball launch, increased distance, improved forgiveness, and overall a more stable feel at impact.
Lower Center of Gravity for Higher Ball Flight
A key element of the new irons is a 3D-printed medallion from Cobra’s premium 3DP series. The delicate lattice structure saves weight that is redistributed within the clubhead, lowering the center of gravity by about two millimeters. This change results in a higher ball launch and steeper descent onto the green, improving control and stopping power, making greens easier to hold.
More Speed with Consistent Feel
For increased distance, Cobra uses a 360 Speedshell face that flexes more across the entire surface, maintaining ball speed even on off-center hits. This is complemented by an 80-gram catapult weight housed in a vibration-damping polymer, delivering consistent distance and a solid, pleasant feel with balanced sound.
Improved Turf Interaction with New Sole Design
The revised skid sole with a pre-ground leading edge featuring added bounce and a flatter mid-sole allows the club to glide cleanly through the turf. This reduces resistance at impact, improves turf interaction, and supports the low center of gravity in the clubhead.
Two Models Tailored for Different Player Types
The KING iron is designed for players with higher swing speeds and handicaps around 10 to 20, seeking maximum speed and forgiveness. The larger KING MAX offers more offset, weaker lofts, and added stability on toe and heel strikes, catering to players desiring higher ball flight, draw tendencies, and maximum support.
Market Launch and Price
The new Cobra KING irons will be available in Europe starting February 3. The retail price for a set of six irons with steel or graphite shafts is 999 euros.
