Cobra expands the KING family with new KING and KING MAX irons featuring advanced technology for an easier playing experience.
Cobra has expanded its KING family with the new KING and KING MAX irons. These modern irons combine innovative technologies for higher ball flight, greater distance, improved forgiveness, and a more stable feel. From a lower center of gravity to a flexible face and an optimized sole – these new models make the game easier, support controlled shots, and offer different options to deliver maximum performance on the green for every player type.
Cobra KING Irons: Game Improvement Through Modern Technology
The new KING and KING MAX irons target mid- and high-handicap players. The focus is on technologies designed to simplify the game: higher ball launch, more distance, enhanced forgiveness, and an overall more stable feel.
Lower Center of Gravity for Higher Ball Flight
A key element of the new irons is a 3D-printed medallion from Cobra’s premium 3DP series. The delicate lattice structure saves weight, which is redistributed within the clubhead. This lowers the center of gravity by about two millimeters, resulting in a higher ball launch that lands more steeply on the green, improving control and stopping power, making greens easier to hit.
More Speed with Consistent Feel
Cobra also enhances distance with technical support through the 360 Speedshell face, allowing more flex across the entire face and therefore more consistent ball speeds even on off-center hits. This is complemented by an 80-gram catapult weight housed in a vibration-damping polymer. The result is not only more consistent distance but also a solid, pleasant feel with a balanced sound.
Improved Turf Interaction with New Sole Design
An updated skid sole design features a pre-ground leading edge with extra bounce and a flatter midsole, helping the club glide cleanly through the turf. This reduces resistance at impact, improves ground contact, and further supports the low center of gravity of the clubhead.
Two Models for Different Player Types
The two models differ in shape and specifications. The KING iron is aimed at players with slightly higher swing speeds and handicaps around 10 to 20 who want more speed and forgiveness. The KING MAX iron is larger, with more offset, weaker lofts, and added stability on toe or heel strikes, suited for players seeking higher ball flight, draw tendencies, and maximum support.
Market Launch and Price
The new Cobra KING irons will be available in European retail starting February 3rd. The selling price for both models is 999 euros for a set of six irons with steel or graphite shafts.
