Cobra OPTM Driver: Setting New Precision Standards

Cobra introduces the new OPTM Drivers, setting new standards in precision and accuracy with four innovative clubs.

Cobra is launching a new line of drivers at the start of 2026. With the OPTM driver family, Cobra opens a new chapter in driver design, focusing not solely on maximum forgiveness but emphasizing directional stability of the clubhead. This is made possible by the new POI technology, which highlights an often overlooked measure of precision and aims to significantly reduce shot dispersion.

Cobra OPTM Driver: A New Approach to Directional Stability

The OPTM driver family represents a new generation of drivers where maximum distance or high forgiveness are not the only priorities. Instead, Cobra focuses on the directional stability of the clubhead during impact. The foundation of this approach is the newly developed POI (Point of Inertia) technology, which Cobra claims contributes significantly to more consistent drives.

POI as a Complement to Traditional MOI

For years, a high MOI value has been the gold standard in driver design, indicating how resistant a clubhead is to twisting on off-center hits along horizontal and vertical axes. POI targets a different dimension: it measures how much the clubhead twists diagonally and in three dimensions across all axes. A low POI value reduces these complex rotations, thereby minimizing unwanted shot dispersion by up to 23 percent, according to Cobra.

AI-Driven Shaping and Weighting

To achieve a low POI, all OPTM models use a combination of AI-optimized clubhead shapes and adaptive weighting. The heads are rounder to bring the center of gravity closer to the geometric center. Additionally, external weights positioned in newly calculated locations help minimize rotational movements at impact. The goal is to combine high stability through MOI with improved directional accuracy via low POI.

Four Models Tailored to Different Players

The OPTM driver family includes four models catering to various player types. The OPTM LS is designed for high swing speeds and low handicaps with low spin and maximum ball speed. The OPTM X offers versatility with neutral ball flight characteristics for a broad range of players. The OPTM MAX-K delivers maximum forgiveness with high MOI, while the OPTM MAX-D targets slice correction and higher launch. All feature the POI technology and multi-material construction including a carbon crown, titanium frame, and H.O.T. Face.

Customization, Campaign, and Market Launch

The concept is complemented by the FUTUREFIT33 hosel system, allowing 33 independent loft and lie combinations for extensive fitting options and quick on-the-fly adjustments. The OPTM drivers will be available in European markets starting January 20, 2026, at a retail price of 629 euros.
