Cobra introduces the new OPTM Drivers, setting new standards for precision and accuracy with four models.
Launching in early 2026, Cobra unveils the OPTM driver family, marking a new chapter in driver design. Instead of focusing solely on maximum forgiveness, the company emphasizes directional stability of the clubhead. This is enabled by the innovative POI (Point of Inertia) technology, which highlights an often overlooked aspect of precision, aiming to significantly reduce shot dispersion.
Cobra OPTM Drivers: A New Approach to Directional Stability
The OPTM driver line presents a new generation where maximum distance or forgiveness are not the only priorities. Cobra centers attention on the directional stability of the clubhead at impact, utilizing the newly developed POI technology which Cobra claims contributes to more consistent drives.
POI Complements Traditional MOI
For years, a high MOI (Moment of Inertia) has been the benchmark in driver design, representing resistance to twisting on off-center hits along horizontal and vertical axes. POI focuses on measuring the diagonal and three-dimensional clubhead movements across all axes. A low POI value helps reduce these complex rotations, decreasing unwanted shot dispersion by up to 23%, according to Cobra.
AI-Optimized Shape and Weighting
To minimize POI, Cobra employs AI-optimized clubhead shapes and adaptive weighting in all OPTM models. The heads are rounder to bring the center of gravity closer to the geometric center. External weights are strategically placed to minimize rotational motion at impact, combining high MOI stability with enhanced directional accuracy from low POI.
Four Models Target Different Players
The OPTM family consists of four distinct models: the OPTM LS for high swing speeds and low handicaps with low spin and maximum ball speed; the OPTM X as a versatile option with neutral ball flight; the OPTM MAX-K prioritizes maximum forgiveness with high MOI; and the OPTM MAX-D focuses on slice correction and higher launch. All feature POI technology and multi-material construction including a carbon crown, titanium frame, and H.O.T. Face.
Adjustability, Campaign, and Release
The lineup includes the FUTUREFIT33 hosel system, offering 33 independent loft and lie combinations for extensive customization and quick on-the-fly adjustments. The OPTM drivers will be available in European markets from January 20, 2026, priced at 629 euros.
