Cobra expands the KING family with new KING and KING MAX irons featuring advanced tech for an easier playing experience.
Cobra expands its KING family with the new KING and KING MAX irons. These modern irons combine innovative technologies for higher ball flight, increased distance, improved forgiveness, and a more stable feel. From a lower center of gravity to a flexible face and optimized sole, the new models make the game easier, support controlled shots, and offer different options to deliver maximum performance on the green for every type of player.
Cobra KING Irons: Game Improvement Through Modern Technology
The new KING and KING MAX irons are targeted at mid- and high-handicap players. They focus on technologies designed to simplify the game: higher ball launch, more distance, improved forgiveness, and an overall more stable feel.
Lower Center of Gravity for Higher Ball Flight
A key feature is a 3D-printed medallion taken from Cobra’s premium 3DP series. Its delicate lattice structure saves weight which is then redistributed in the clubhead. This lowers the center of gravity by about two millimeters, directly impacting play: the ball launches higher and lands steeper on the green, improving control and stopping power, making greens easier to hit.
Enhanced Speed with a Solid Feel
For distance, Cobra uses the 360 Speedshell face that flexes significantly across the entire surface, producing more consistent ball speeds even on off-center hits. This is supported by an 80-gram catapult weight housed in a vibration-damping polymer. The result is not only more consistent distance but also a solid, pleasant feel with a balanced sound.
Improved Turf Interaction with New Sole Design
The updated Skid Sole design adds a pre-ground leading edge with extra bounce and a flatter mid-sole, allowing cleaner turf interaction. This reduces resistance at impact, improves ground contact, and complements the deep center of gravity of the clubhead.
Two Models for Different Player Types
The KING iron is aimed at players with slightly higher swing speeds and handicaps around 10 to 20 seeking maximum speed and forgiveness. The larger KING MAX iron offers more offset, weaker lofts, and added stability on toe and heel strikes, ideal for players who want a higher ball flight, draw tendencies, and maximum support.
Market Launch and Price
The new Cobra KING irons will be available in European stores from February 3rd. Both models retail at 999 euros for a set of six irons with steel or graphite shafts.
