Cobra OPTM Driver Sets New Precision Standards for 2026

Cobra launches the new OPTM Drivers, introducing four models that redefine precision and accuracy in golf for 2026.

Cobra is starting 2026 with a new series of drivers called the OPTM family. This lineup marks a new chapter in driver design, focusing not only on maximum forgiveness but prioritizing directional stability of the clubhead. This is enabled by the new POI technology, which emphasizes a previously underappreciated measure of precision to significantly reduce shot dispersion.

Cobra OPTM Driver: A New Approach to Directional Stability

The OPTM Drivers introduce a new generation where the focus goes beyond just maximum distance or high forgiveness. The brand highlights directional stability at impact, based on the pioneering POI (Point of Inertia) technology which aims to deliver more consistent drives.

POI: Complementing Traditional MOI

Traditionally, a high MOI (Moment of Inertia) has been the key measure, describing resistance to twisting on off-center hits along horizontal and vertical axes. POI adds another dimension by measuring the diagonal and three-dimensional rotational movements of the clubhead. A lower POI reduces these complex motions, decreasing unwanted shot dispersions by up to 23%, according to Cobra.

AI-Driven Design and Weighting for Enhanced Performance

To achieve a low POI, Cobra combines AI-optimized clubhead shapes with adaptive weighting. The rounder heads shift the center of gravity closer to the geometric middle, while external weights placed at new positions minimize rotational movement at impact. This approach merges high stability through MOI with improved directional accuracy via low POI.

Four Models Targeted at Different Players

The OPTM family features four models: OPTM LS, designed for high swing speeds and low handicaps with low spin and maximum ball speed; OPTM X, a versatile model for a wide range of players with neutral ball flight; OPTM MAX-K, focused on maximum forgiveness with high MOI; and OPTM MAX-D, tailored for slice correction and higher launch. All models use POI technology and multi-material construction, including carbon crowns, titanium frames, and H.O.T. Face technology.

Customization and Market Launch

Completing the concept is the FUTUREFIT33 hosel system, offering 33 loft and lie combinations for extensive customization, allowing quick on-the-fly adjustments. The OPTM Drivers will be available in Europe starting January 20, 2026, priced at €629.
