Cobra introduces the new OPTM Drivers, setting new standards for precision and accuracy with four innovative models.
Cobra is launching a new line of drivers for 2026. With the OPTM driver family, Cobra opens a new chapter in driver design by focusing not solely on maximum forgiveness but on directional stability of the clubhead. This is enabled by the innovative POI (Point of Inertia) technology, which brings an often overlooked measure of precision to the forefront, significantly reducing shot dispersion.
Cobra OPTM Driver: A New Approach to Directional Stability
The OPTM driver series introduces a new generation of drivers that prioritize directional stability at impact over just distance or forgiveness. The newly developed POI technology measures how much the clubhead moves diagonally and in 3D across all axes, aiming to reduce unwanted side spin and enhance shot accuracy. Cobra claims this reduces shot dispersion by up to 23%.
POI Technology Complements Traditional MOI
For years, a high Moment of Inertia (MOI) has been the benchmark for driver resilience against twisting on off-center hits along vertical and horizontal axes. POI adds a new dimension by quantifying diagonal and rotational movements in three dimensions. A lower POI value reduces complex rotations thus minimizing unintended shot deviations, combining improved stability with better control.
AI-Driven Design and Weighting for Performance
All OPTM models employ AI-optimized shaping and adaptive weighting to minimize POI. The clubheads are rounder to position the center of gravity closer to the geometric center. Externally placed weights at newly calculated locations further reduce rotational movements at impact. The goal is to harmonize high stability through MOI with enhanced directional accuracy through a low POI.
Four Models Tailored for Different Players
The OPTM driver family consists of four models targeting various player types. The OPTM LS suits high swing speeds and low handicaps with low spin and maximum ball speed. The OPTM X is a versatile model with neutral ball flight characteristics for a wide range of players. The OPTM MAX-K offers maximum forgiveness with high MOI, while the OPTM MAX-D focuses on slice correction and higher launch. All models feature POI technology and a multi-material construction including a carbon crown, titanium frame, and H.O.T. Face.
Customization and Launch
The design includes the FUTUREFIT33 hosel system with 33 independent loft and lie combinations, allowing extensive adjustments quickly. The OPTM drivers will be available in European markets from January 20, 2026, priced at 629 euros.
