WITB: Nacho Elvira Wins with New Callaway Quantum Driver

WITB: With a new Callaway driver, proven iron setup, and distinctive putter, Nacho Elvira secured his third DP World Tour title at the Dubai Invitational.

Against a strong field, Nacho Elvira kept his composure at the Dubai Invitational, celebrating his third DP World Tour victory with a first-time club in his bag.

Breakthrough with the New Callaway Quantum Driver

His first win of the year also marked his debut tournament using the new Callaway Quantum Driver. The 38-year-old Spaniard played the brand-new Callaway Quantum Triple Diamond Max driver with a 7.5-degree loft and a Graphite Design Tour AD TX shaft, which proved its worth right away on its public debut.

Consistent Fairway Setup

Elvira relies on the Callaway Parady Ai Smoke Max fairway wood set to 14 degrees with a Fujikura Ventus TR Red shaft, an unchanged setup for two years. Bridging the gap from wood to irons, his bag includes the Callaway Apex UW 25 with a Graphite Design Tour AD TX shaft.

Utility and Compact Iron Setup

A key element in Elvira’s bag is the Callaway X Forged UT CF18 utility iron with 24 degrees loft from 2018, equipped with a Mitsubishi Chemical Tensei AV Raw White 90 HY TX shaft—the same combination he has used in previous wins. Due to the clubhead weighting, his classic iron set starts only at the 5-iron, with Callaway Apex TCB 5-iron and Apex MB irons from 6 to 9, all fitted with KBS $-Taper X shafts, a long-standing feature of his setup.

Precision and variety define his wedge selection: a four-wedge setup featuring Titleist Vokey Wedgeworks 44°, Vokey SM10 50° and 54°, and a Vokey Wedgeworks Proto 58°, the latter fitted with a True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100 shaft, while the lower loft wedges use KBS $-Taper X shafts.

WITB: Success with the Putter

The most eye-catching club in Elvira’s bag is the Odyssey Ai-One Jailbird Mini 1/2 Ball Prototype putter. Featuring a distinctive alignment aid with a black line, white semicircle on the crown, and bi-colored face, this recently adopted putter proved crucial, as Elvira led putting statistics on decisive days, making it key to his victory.
