Cobra introduces the new OPTM Drivers, setting new standards in precision and accuracy with four innovative clubs.
Launching in early 2026, Cobra unveils the OPTM driver family, marking a new chapter in driver design. Moving beyond just maximum forgiveness, Cobra focuses on directional stability of the clubhead. This is enabled by the new POI technology, which highlights a previously overlooked measure of precision, significantly reducing shot dispersion.
Cobra OPTM Driver: A New Approach to Directional Stability
The OPTM driver line introduces a generation of drivers prioritizing not just length or forgiveness, but the directional stability of the clubhead at impact. The foundation is the newly developed POI (Point of Inertia) technology, which Cobra claims contributes decisively to more consistent drives.
POI Complementing Traditional MOI
Traditionally, a high MOI (moment of inertia) has been the gold standard in driver design, measuring resistance against twisting on off-center hits. POI addresses diagonal and three-dimensional movements across all axes. A low POI value reduces these complex rotations, decreasing unwanted side deviations with reported shot dispersion reduced by up to 23%.
AI-Driven Shaping and Weighting
To minimize POI, all OPTM models combine AI-optimized clubhead shapes and adaptive weighting. Clubheads are rounder, moving the center of gravity closer to the geometric center. External weights placed at newly calculated positions further reduce rotational movements at impact, combining high stability through MOI with improved directional accuracy via low POI.
Four Models Targeting Different Players
The OPTM family includes four models tailored to various player types: OPTM LS for high swing speeds and low handicaps focusing on low spin and maximum ball speed; OPTM X as a versatile model for a broad performance spectrum with neutral ball flight; OPTM MAX-K offering maximum forgiveness with high MOI; and OPTM MAX-D designed for slice correction and higher launch. All feature POI technology and multi-material construction with a carbon crown, titanium frame, and H.O.T. Face.
Customizability, Campaign, and Market Launch
The concept is complemented by the FUTUREFIT33 hosel system allowing 33 adjustable loft and lie combinations, giving extensive custom-fitting options for quick shaft adjustments. The OPTM drivers will be available in European retail from January 20, 2026, priced at 629 euros.
