Cobra OPTM Driver: Setting New Standards in Precision

Cobra introduces the new OPTM Drivers, setting new standards for precision and accuracy with four innovative clubs.

Cobra is launching a new line of drivers at the start of 2026, opening a new chapter in driver design with the OPTM family. Instead of focusing solely on maximum forgiveness, the brand emphasizes directional stability of the clubhead. This is made possible by the new POI technology, highlighting an often overlooked measure of precision to significantly reduce shot dispersion.

Cobra OPTM Driver: A New Approach to Directional Stability

The OPTM driver family presents a generation of drivers prioritizing not just length or forgiveness but the directional stability of the clubhead at impact. The newly developed POI technology (Point of Inertia) is the foundation of this approach, which Cobra claims contributes decisively to more consistent drives.

POI as a Complement to Traditional MOI

Historically, high MOI values have been the benchmark in driver design, indicating resistance to twisting on off-center hits along horizontal and vertical axes. POI takes a different perspective by measuring diagonal and three-dimensional clubhead movement across all axes. A lower POI reduces complex rotations, thereby decreasing unwanted lateral deviations. Cobra reports a reduction in dispersion by up to 23 percent due to this technology.

AI-Driven Shaping and Weighting

To minimize POI, all OPTM models combine AI-optimized clubhead shapes with adaptive weighting. The heads are designed to be rounder, shifting the center of gravity closer to the geometric center. Additionally, externally placed weights at recalculated positions work to minimize rotational movement at impact. The goal is to merge high stability from MOI with enhanced directional accuracy from low POI.

Four Models Tailored to Different Players

The OPTM family features four models catering to various player types. The OPTM LS targets high swing speeds and low handicaps with low spin and maximum ball speed. The OPTM X is versatile, offering neutral ball flight characteristics. The OPTM MAX-K provides maximum forgiveness with high MOI, while the OPTM MAX-D focuses on slice correction and higher launch. All versions benefit from POI technology and a multi-material construction featuring a carbon crown, titanium frame, and H.O.T. Face.

Adjustability, Campaign, and Launch

The concept is supported by the FUTUREFIT33 hosel system, allowing 33 independently adjustable loft and lie combinations. This extensive adjustability enables quick and easy club customization. The OPTM drivers will be available in European markets on January 20, 2026, retailing at €629.
