TaylorMade Qi Max and Qi Max HL: Next-Gen Game-Improvement Irons

TaylorMade introduces the new Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons, combining distance, forgiveness, and sleek design in a next-gen game-improvement package.

TaylorMade unveils the new Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons, representing a new generation of game-improvement clubs designed to enhance distance, forgiveness, sound, and feel while meeting both performance and aesthetic needs.

TaylorMade Qi Max and Qi Max HL: The Next Generation of Game-Improvement Irons

A key development focus was the clubface. Due to its asymmetrical design, with a higher toe than heel, many game-improvement irons tend to deform unevenly at impact, often creating additional cut spin and shots that fade right when struck near the toe. The Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons feature a face engineered to flex more evenly, resulting in more stable ball launches and straighter trajectories with high ball speeds.

Sound, Feel, and Internal Enhancements

Beyond pure performance, playability was important. Both models include a sound-stabilizing bar connecting the back bar to the topline, stabilizing it and reducing unwanted noises at impact. Additionally, the ECHO damping system material was moved higher in the face, decreasing vibrations and producing a solid sound without sacrificing impact feedback. Optimized face designs and new internal structures further boost speed and consistent distance.

Two Designs for Different Player Types

The Qi Max irons target players seeking distance and forgiveness in a relatively compact design, featuring thinner toplines, shorter blade lengths, and less offset with a smooth hosel transition. FLTD CG technology positions a low center of gravity in long irons for a high launch and strong stopping power, while shifting it higher in short irons for better distance control. The Speed Pocket in irons 4 to 8 maintains ball speed on lower strikes.

The Qi Max HL irons emphasize maximum forgiveness with larger head profiles, higher faces, and thicker soles and toplines for added stability and confidence. Their lofts are 3° weaker than the Qi Max, combined with ultra-light heads, shafts, and grips, aiding players with slower swing speeds by increasing clubhead speed, launch height, and stopping power.

Fresh Design and Availability

Both iron models sport a bright, monochrome design inspired by the P-Series. The Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons are available in steel for 183 euros per club and graphite shafts for 200 euros per club. Pre-orders start January 8, 2026, with availability in stores from January 29, 2026.
