TaylorMade Qi Max and Qi Max HL: Next-Gen Game-Improvement Irons

The new TaylorMade Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons offer a complete package of distance, forgiveness, and design for game-improvement golfers.

TaylorMade introduces the new Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons, a next generation of game-improvement clubs designed to enhance distance, forgiveness, sound, and feel while addressing both playing needs and aesthetic aspects.

TaylorMade Qi Max and Qi Max HL: Next-Generation Game-Improvement Irons

A key development focus was the clubface, which is asymmetrically designed with a higher toe than heel. Many game-improvement irons tend to deform unevenly at impact, causing additional cut spin and shots that fade right when struck near the toe. The Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons feature a face that bends more evenly, resulting in more stable ball flights, straighter trajectories, and high ball speed.

Sound, Feel, and Internal Enhancements

Beyond performance, feel was important. Both models include a sound-stabilizing bar connecting the rear bar to the crown to stabilize the top edge and reduce unwanted noise at impact. The ECHO damping system material is positioned higher in the face to reduce vibrations, providing a solid sound without losing feedback. Individually optimized faces and new internal structures further support speed and consistent distance.

Two Designs for Different Player Types

Qi Max irons target players seeking distance and forgiveness in a compact design with thinner toplines, shorter blade lengths, and less offset where the head seamlessly transitions into the hosel. Using FLTD CG, the center of gravity is positioned low in long irons to promote high launch and good stopping power, rising in short irons to aid distance control. A Speed Pocket in irons 4-8 maintains ball speed on low strikes.

Qi Max HL irons focus on maximum forgiveness with larger clubheads, higher faces, and thicker soles and toplines for stability and confidence. Their lofts are about 3° weaker than the Qi Max, combined with ultra-light heads, shafts, and grips to help players with slower swing speeds increase clubhead speed, launch, and stopping power.

New Design and Availability

Both iron models showcase a bright, monochrome design inspired by the P-Series. Available in steel at 183 euros per iron and graphite at 200 euros each, pre-orders start January 8, 2026. They will be available in stores from January 29, 2026.
